Rolling Hills, smooth single track, loose single track, muddy single track, loose double-track, almost any kind of friggin track
Summary: Been riding here off & on for about 12 years, loved coming up for a change in terrain from my local loops.
However, after my first trip up there this year I feel safe in saying I probably won't be back any time soon. it appears they have decided to allow motorcycles on about 90% of the bike trails, and the errosion from my last trip up last year is to say the least horrific.
Just not as much fun to ride anymore. Oh well, time to head further north for new territory, Killington!
Recommended Route: Drive right on by, unless you want to cruise some nice fire roads.

Summary: I pretty much agree with the consensus but wish to add the following: Dirt bikes are really beginning to take their toll on these trails, on the entire trail system actually which extends out to Wrentham SF and Franklin SF, both of which are in really rough shape. For this I have to rate Foxboro 3 stars even though I find myself riding there more often than not, mostly due to it's proximity

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Summary: We started riding at Gilbert a few years back in the winter because Lynn is closed. What a great place! There's something for everyone,(except the hucking crew), and with almost every type of terrain possible the ride can be as long and technical as you want. Counter clockwise in loop the C area there are some good climbs and descents with lots of singletrack that frequently crosses the loop C trail. We got lost on the first few rides and ended up finding some killer singletrack and good rocky technical lines all around the double track (loop C). There's a cool downhill right on Rt. 1 at a sand pit you see from the road, you cross a rocky stream bed and head up a hill to the right. Good drop right off the front where the rock is and you'll freak someone driving. I don't think it's loop C but you go all around Goat rock (stopping for a fire safety clinic on top), and continue on over to the Acorn trail. Be mindful of the hikers, as this section is similar to the now illegal White Trail at the Fellsway and you may come across some friendly folks as you launch off a 4ft. rock. Off the back of Goat Rock is another good downhill but this one is all rock with a good drop in the middle. The Acorn trail is short but lots of fun with a good variety of rocks and speed to keep you honest. The map is great because there are lots of side trails and secret stuff to find that offer some tough ups and some good air if that's your bag. Great place to bushwhack and get lost because you always come out on one of the main roads and the opportunities are endless. There's several lines at each section which allows you to go up and over each long climb, or cruise on the loop trails and fire roads down below. Opt for the altitude, as the singletrack on the way around Wolf Meadow and the Rockwood trails is tight and twisty. The place always seems to offer something new every time we go, whether it's a 6 ft. huck or a new technical climb. Gilbert is a fun, challenging ride all around in any conditions and for any skill level.
Recommended Route: Park at the top of High rock road, then ride back down the road and take the c loop counter-clockwise.Keep heading that way up over Goat rock, across the Megley and over to Wolf Meadow Rd. Cross over to the loop A area and eventually end up at Messenger Rd. Lots of stuff left around the loop B and C area on the way back to High Rock Rd. Loop takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours with a few stops in between.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Lynn Woods, The Fellsway, Harold Parker, The Grim, Groton Woods.

Summary: I stared out mountainbiking here about 7 years ago and loved it for about 5 years. I had only been here once in the last two years, because I'd been riding Vietnam, and I couldn't believe how eroded F Gilbert had become. Since Vietnam seems to be closing down, I've come back here and found a lot of real fun trails for all skill levels. Some of the re-routed trails are great. It's real easy to get lost and find your way out again, just about everything leads to a fire road. From there you can figure out pretty easily how to get back to the ranger station, just go downhill. Last season I would have given this a 2 star rating, due to trail erosion, but since I've been exploring a lot more, I'm giving it a 5 star review.
Recommended Route: Take the whole day, a lot of water, maybe some snacks, grab a map, get lost, use the map to figure out where you are and keep going.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Wrentham, Borderland, Vietnam (I won't go there now with No Tresspassing signs posted everwhere, but I'm glad I had the chance to ride it)
