Summary:
The last reviewer, I think, unfortunately missed out on Hawley's (what everyone calls Dubuque) hidden treasures, of which there are plenty. If you can, white in the parking area by the old white firehouse off of East hawley RD (about 7 miles up from Route 2, Berkshire East area). Eventually some locals who know the trails will show up...follow them (they won't be friendly...at first, it's hard to explain but it's a hill town/Berkshire cultural thing). There are at least 20 miles of the finest singletrack around secreted away in this park! If you go by yourself, do this..Starting from the dirt/grass parking area near the old Hawley Firehouse head into the woods on the wide double-track trail. Bear Left at the first intersection and head up the slight incline...and start paying attention, after about 21/4 mile into the woods you'll see singletrack trails heading off to the left and the right, take one and ride, they all eventually drop you back off on other doubletrack dirt roads which if you pay attention you will spot other single track trails leading off of them, get on them. It will take you several 5-6 hours weekend days of exploring, a good Dubuque Map (none of the singletrack trails are available on it)toget a feel for the vast trail system available in this park. Trust me, it has a delightful blend of smooth twisty rippers, outrageous, white knuckly big rock, steep technical, and great, protracted singletrack climbing. But, alas it's not easy to find...but its hear, there really is buried treasure in these woods, if you are a brave enough soul to find it. Oh yeah, when you do find it you'll never pass this place for Savoy State Forest Again

Recommended Route:
Start at the Firehous on East Hawley Road and explore the hidden, or not well marked singletrack.

Summary:
I wasn't very impressed with this place. A few wet and buggy trails, and lots of steep dirt roads. Recent logging activity has destroyed a few trails. Horses have ruined other trails....too bad. Try Savoy State Forest to the west, it nas miles of rocky, technical singletrack and a great view from the firetower,

Summary:
Hawley State Forest (aka Debuque) has the sweetest single track i know but if you haven't ridden their a lot, you probably don't know where the fun stuff is. their are miles of dirt roads (pretty hilly) that aren't much fun but once you get off trail (legal and nonlegal trails)it gets good. Single track ranges from easy to really hard/technical. Some of these trails most anyone could ride but others i haven't cleaned yet. Also most of the illegal trails are unmarked and often hard to find. If you do start at the headquarters on rt8A, you could also check out savoy state forest. theirs no traffic-yet- so keep it quiet :)

find someone who knows what they're doing- you will never find anything if you don't

Also acess Hawley State Forest from the Hawley fire station- this is better in some ways because of added elevation.

Summary:
Obviously anybody that reviewed this trail and said it was easy is the dumbest person i have ever met. They probably only went to i trail then shit themselves. If you simply find some trails, get a little lost, then this place can be one of the funnest places in Mass. My friends and I found some incredible up hill climbs and down hills

Summary:
This place (AKA Hawley SF) has lots of confusing intersections at dirt roads, making it very easy to get lost. A map would be helpful. Mostly beginner riding with few nasty, mucky snowmobile trails that aren't worth the trouble. Being at a high elevation its very wet until summer, then the bugs will eat you alive! Bring a GPS and lots of bug dope. If you like lots of hill climbs on dirt roads, this is the place to test your lungs.

Recommended Route:
Off Rte 116 onto Rte 8A or up 8A from Rte 2. Other entrances are available.
