Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Winthrop, MA Summary: This trail is a great little workout that is part of a 20 mile route that I take on my road bike. If you ride the perimeter it's about 2.6 miles, but if you add some of the short steep hills, you can get 5-6 miles out of riding here. The hills are great for training. The views of Boston are great indeed! Not a MTB trail at all, but great recreational ride on any type of bike. It can be crowded with walkers, kids on bikes, rollerbladers, etc. depending on time of day and the trail itself can be narrow at points. Oh, and the smell out there at certain times can ruin the spectacular views! I'll rate it a "2" as it's not an mountain bike trail, but worth a ride if you like biking along the ocean and nice views! Recommended Route: Ride the perimeter 3/4 of the way around, then left up the hill to the top of the island..back down a swooping hill and up to the other side and read the schematic of Deer Island and how it operates..quite interesting! Hills are great for interval/ hill training or for just a mellow ride and some great views! From there, back out around Bayview? dr. along the water, by the park, past the boat launch, up and over the water tower hill and down along Winthrop Beach, through the highlands, down shore drive to Revere beach.....
