Ashland State Park

If you live in Ashland and don't mind a few bumps in your single track you need to check it out. Stay within sight of the water all the way around. Decent single track all the way around with some nice bridges to jump onto and over. Short but sweet. Ride it fast and furious. For longer more serious riding check out Vietnam or F. Gilbert (see reviews).

Trail Directions
If you can't bike there and you have to drive to it the relatively short ride may not be worth it for you. If driving, park along chestnut street near the woods, or at the public boat ramp, or at the state park beach entrance. Trail follows close to the reservoir all the way around. Circle back to your starting point.

Summary:
I went here because good things were said about it on NEMBA.org. Most places I have ridden that I heard about on NEMBA.org have been great. NEMBA does a great job of maintaining and signing the trails their name is attached to. This area was the exception. There were no signs, I spent the first half hour following dead end trails. Once I did find the trails they were beat up, rutted, over grown and destroyed by dirt bikes or the trails were interupted by nearby condo contruction. There were a couple short sections of tricky, tight singletrack. But it was overall a disapointment

Recommended Route:
Who knows, there arent any signs

Other recommended trails in the same area:
If you're looking for great singletrack south of Boston try Wompatuck or Blue Hills.

Summary:
This place may of been cool when your like 10 years old but now it just sucks. Its all single track and fire road full of tree roots and boulders. Its boring and theres not much potential. I live literally 2 mins away and it was alright to be able to get out and take a quick ride but now it just sucks and isnt worth it.

Recommended Route:
If you must, you can park at the public boat ramp on Spring Street and is your best bet.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Vietnam, Callahan

Don't waste your time here - boring trails, nothing to offer. Only one trail around the lake, side trails that look promising go nowhere. ZZZZZZZZZ...Boring.. get some balls and go ride Nam, you skirt

Summary:
Its got great singletrack with roots rocks and other obstacles. Riding the dam is pretty fun.

Recommended Route:
If you live in the surrounding towns a couple of miles down the road is worth it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
It does not have as many trails as Nam.

Summary:
You go around a resevoir, boring. It's basically a waste of time. Any trail off of this trail that looks like it might be going some where is not.

Recommended Route:
If this place was in my back yard I might screw around here but it's hardly worth the drive.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
none
