24 Hour Race Course
4 reviews
 4.25 of 5

30% dirt road / 30% single track / 40% double track starts in nice field, climbs about 150' then drops into single track for about a mile, then long dirt road climb to the top. Hard, rooty, rocky tight singletrack, then open up to a little wider, but still hard singletrack. Screaming downhill on dirt road, switchback trail, up the old pipeline climb (.2 mile), up dirt road a short distance, blast down singletrack into field (1mile), ride across field, tag to teammate, do all over again

Summary:
well,2003 must have been better than 2002 because this place gets 5 stars even at 2 or 4am. if you're from new england, you've got to get your riding buddies together and do this race.the race course will pull you through it.it's so much fun.it has it all.you work hard the first half then the fun begins.the only part I really didn't like was the fast muddy section which got really soupy at night.but hey, even at night you just fly through it as fast as you can and hope for the best.

I really like lenox trails and pittsfield state forest to the top of Jimminy peak ski mtn.

Summary:
This trail was very fast and still technically challenging. These parts were usually in the flats but there was one decent dh part. The best place to make up time was on the fireroad.

Recommended Route:
This course was indeed very fun. A fast, flat fire road to doubletrack w/ some undulations until a decent climb and then over a large bridge and "under the over." Then up a fire road quickly and down into a field until over a stream and up quickly again and a right into a singletracked field and a left into singeltrack. Very rooty and when ridden in '03, kinda muddy in one spot w/ a bridge if you want. Up and down until a small climb to the fireroad climb. This goes through a field and then into the woods. The fireroad climb is appx. 2 miles and varies in steepness. About 2-4 the whole way, locked out. After a short decline it crosses a stream and goes up agaain past the Checkpoint #1 and up a steep tech part. It then becomes singletrack and very rooty and technical until a screaming fireroad, rocky DH and into singletrack again. The rest is downhill with a short singletrack climb up to Checkpoint #2. There are three very, very muddy spots (SOOP!!). There is also a three-way trail option. There is a cool bridge which goes over a mud pit that goes up and down over a log and a short log bridge over a creek. The final over under is sweet. Up and then down over and a quick sprint to the finish.
