********************************************************************************* NO MOUNTAIN BIKING ON THE WEEKENDS AND OCT 31 TRU MAY 1 ********************************************************************************
There are two MTB trail, the yellow and the blue, and three hiker only trails. Blue trail is 5 miles and yellow is 7 miles. Two stream crossings, some logs, some hills. The hiker trails are very technical, with lots of logs, steep climbs, and three foot drop-offs.
-270 30 miles north of D.C. or 8 miles south of Frederick, take route 109 south for 3 miles, to route 95 turn, right(follow the signs) keep going until the large intersection, the entrance will be on the far right side, you can parck there or at the top.
Summary: I went to Sugarloaf on my day off, had to. One of the sucky things about this place is that it is open to bikes only June 1 - October 31, Monday-Friday. The other sucky thing is the markings on the trails in parts. There are areas where they have come in and done some logging and clearing and trying to find the outlet of the trail in some spots was a pain and took away from the flow of the trail. However, this place still is a great place to ride. It will give you a work out with it's vicious uphills (600-1000 vertical feet in 1/3 mile) and will test your technical skills with all the rocks. Plus the drive out here is awesome and scenic. A nice break from city life. PS-There are no gas stations anywhere near here so fill up before you head out. I just about found out the hard way.

Summary: Well it's short, very short...but it is brutal. I came out with a decent amount of bruises and a cut or two. I thought I could take on this hill, but the uphills are the worst here. Large steps and tons of logs.
Recommended Route: I don't know exactly, but I think I took the white trail.
Other recommended trails in the same area: If you're looking for a quick fix, this is the place, but if you're looking for something more, skip on up to Frederick and check out the watershed.

Summary: Wow, i am impressed. This is my first time hitting a real trail with my new mountain bike.. Although some parts were alittle tough, it was a great experience, and only suffered minor cuts and bruises :)
