Cross Country Rider Summary: Great trail for folks new to off road riding. A couple of decent climbs and tons of roots. There are a couple of routes to take and you can always cross the road and cut over to Avalon. I do this at least once a week before work in the early AM. Hit it for a couple of loops then out to the showers. Other recommended trails in the same area: Patapsco, Loch Raven

Cross Country Rider Summary: i love these trails, I've been riding them at least once a week for over 2 years. Recommended Route: after going onto the side of the road across from rockburn, take a right. although you won't be able to cross the river this way there are some very nice smaller rivers the direction along with some pretty wild descents. Other recommended trails in the same area: there's some neat trails up in frederick..

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

Reviewed by: Mike Rogawski
, from Columbia, MD Summary: My son and I rode this trail after spending some time in the Oella area near Elicott City. (As an aside, there is a couple mile partially paved rail trail, near Banneker Historical Park that is pleasant and you can ride up Oella Road which is a windy mountain road with interesting houses.) We really enjoyed Rockburn. The trail is extremely well maintained and fast, with enough roots to make it interesting, and gentle climbs and descents. This is a great beginner area that was a nice change from the much more challanging Patapsco Avalon area where we usually ride. The only problem is that the ride is over way too soon! Other recommended trails in the same area: Stop and visit the Banneker museum in Banneker Park! Benjamin Banneker lived in the 1700's. He was a self-taught son of a former slave who was an astronomer and scientist. He lived on the site of the museum.
