FAST!! A few hills, but overall relatively flat with gradual climbs. A few stream crossings, with bridges. Also the trail seems to stay relatively dry year round, but the yellow trail is very rooty. I think this is a fun trail to go fast, and a good starting point for the beginning mountain biker.
Summary: I enjoyed this trail. It wasn't a technical beast, which was good because I had a rookie with me. Lots of wildlife and easy trails. Don't get me wrong, you'll work up a sweat. There are plenty of un-mapped trails that go across in the wilderness.( There are posted trail maps by the tennis courts ) There were some trails that crossed the road on the other side of the park - never got to explore that side because I was running out of daylight. Fun ride, will go back .
Other recommended trails in the same area: Savage Park is by 32 and has some good trails. Lot's of wilderness riding and no people!

Summary: Fast, fun, nice little jumps and good downhills are a fitting description of Rockburn Park. A great starting point for begining mountain bikers, and also a good warm-up for trail-veterans. Rockburn connects to the much larger and technical Avalon Area in Elkridge. More advanced riders and beginers wishing to test their mettle can start off in Rockburn, then ride on to Avalon. But if you decide to go into Avalon, make sure you're ready! As Rockburn is really one big circle, I usually start out making a few loops, then prepare myself for what is always a challening ride in Avalon. To get to Avalon, just ride along the outer edge of Rockburn. Eventually you will come across a field with some singletrack leading to the "mouth" of Avalon. Enter the "mouth", cross over a road real quick, then drop in and have fun!
Recommended Route: Rockburn park is basically just one big loop, with a few trails criss-crossing in between. It is too small of a trail to have a reccommended route--you will find yourself back at starting point in no time.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Avalon
