Green Ridge State Forest

12 miles. Signal track in some spots. Good hills, pretty challenging up hills, fast down hills. Nice state park. I've seen reviews for Greenbrier, but I don't think this is the same place. It's a mix of skills Advanced and "Extreme" riders will find it faily easy. But I think it would still a fun ride. Great camp site also.
Summary: I enjoyed this trail a lot. It has a mix of switch back steep climbs, fast, smooth descents and some nice mountain views. Some minor rock gardens, off camber roots, makes this a bit more of a trail for beginners and a challenge for intermediate riders. For those that think this is a non-technical ride, just ride it fast and hard and consider it a hour and half intense workout. This is a classic Mid Atlantic Appalachian style ride. Thanks to the Park Rangers that made this trail.
Recommended Route: Going Clockwise was great. Next time I'll do it counterclockwise and report back. I rode this mid October and the autumn colors were peaking.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Similar to Frederick Watershed area but not as rocky.
Patapsco Avalon area is tighter and shorter ups and downs.

Summary: eh. This trail is ok. Very scenic, able to camp and ride. A lot of down trees. Some parts seem maintained and some seem grown over. I was the only mtber on the trails all weekend. The way the trail is routed seems kind of stupid, if you follow the signs and do it in the right direction all the climbs have nice well maintained singletrack, and all the descents have you going down straight washouts or fireroads and eroded stuff with rocks everywhere. If you do this trail backwards, its much more enjoyable. Youll have to hike a bike on some climbs, but the twisty dh parts will be worth it. If youre into fast DH I found an awesome 2-3 mile or so chunk that you can shuttle up and down.

Summary: Rode this trail for the first time today. Great fun! I'd say this a great trail for intermediate riders with decent aerobic fitness. 12 miles of dedicated mountain biking makes for a great ride. Flows very well, a lot of fast, flowy sections that are fun to rail. A couple of steep, loose, rocky downhills that may be scary for a novice, but an intermediate rider can navigate. A few really good climbs (by good, I mean tough)--but all rideable (in other words, not a mandatory hike-a-bike, but if you're not in decent shape, they may well be hike-a-bikes) Stream crossings keep it interesting. Basically, a good all-around trail ride with a little something of everything--logs, a very few small rock gardens, ups, downs, etc.
Hopefully, maintenance crews will get out soon--there were a few big trees down over the trail at spots.
Recommended Route: It's a directional trail, so follow the signs. Mile markers count downward from 12 instead of upward. I thought that was interesting.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Gambril, Greenbrier, Rocky Gap, Cacapon, Sleepy Creek.

Summary: This is a well maintained trail in a fairly isolated area. It is a combo of 30 percent fire road and 70 percent singletrack. It has white blazes and milage markers but sometimes they are a little far between. Make sure you weare bright colors because evan though I rode on a sunday and X-mas eve I still saw hunters and heard gunshots. Riding clockwise you get some steep climbs to 1600 then 1800 feet followed by a good downhill but it has some babyheads so be carefull the you do a few stream crossings followed by another 1.5 mile down hill that is a fast as you want it to be, I got up to 30+ mph! It finishes with a few small stream crossings. Not real tech but a great ride.
Recommended Route: follow the signs to the trailhead then go clockwise
