rocky old XC race loop. nice doubletrack downhill, rock garden/creek crossing, single track climbout and double track sprint finish. can be difficult technical sections and tough climb but can be ridden by anyone who likes to ride.
In Frederick City Watershed. Take Gambrill Park Road north from 40 past Gambrill Parking lot, past hamburg road, past delauter. gravel parking lot on right, just before road splits at tower road
Summary: The Sand Flats are composed of several open fields and ponds connected by trails that move in and out of the surrounding forest. For the area, the sand flats are relatively flat and can be ridden by even novice riders. The trails up there are all networked with what is called the Watershed. You can pick up the Blue trail just on the edge of the Sand Flats area. you ewill find all kinds of branching trails that leave from the Sand Flats area. We spent several hours criss crossing dirt roads and creeks. Gambrill and the Watershed really do have something for everyone and every skill level.
I have been there several times and have not seen a "half pipe" so i am not sure it exists.
Recommended Route: The whole area is your for the picking. Just pick a trail and go where your wheels takee you. If you hook up with the blue trail and take it doewn hill, relize that you will ahve to climb that same hill or else come back up the dirt road (Gambrill Park Road).

Ridden Trail: Every few months

Summary: Technically this trail is part of the Watershed...it's one of the more basic trails you can take well, when one of the land owners near there aren't tering it up...one bonus is that the "half-pipe" is on this trail past the first fire pond...
Recommended Route: Don't follow this all the way down the hill....unless you're ready for a nice long ride back up...besides, there's more techincal and fun ways to go down
Other recommended trails in the same area: The "shed", Gambrill, Greenbrier's OK, Sugarloaf is challenging but short, and I'm going to try Seneca Creek this weekend.
