A relatively flat single track that winds in and out of paved walking trails. There are some hills but they are very short. There are lots of cut backs and dead ends along with some fun stream crossings. I have not yet explored some trails as there are lots of routes. Turtles and Deer seem to like hanging out on the trail.
From downtown Silver Spring: Route 29 North. Right on Briggs Chaney Road. Left on Robey. Park is at the end of the road. There are multiple entrances located behind the fields.
Summary: I'm a relative newb so factor that into what you're about to read. I started on the paved part which was a nice warm up for the trail portion. The paved part has plenty of fast straight parts, some relaxing downhills and just enough uphills to get the cardio working. There are multiple opportunities to exit the paved part into some trails which, to my untrained body, were kinda tough. Lots of roots of all sizes in alternating sparse and dense concentrations. Some large logs, streams and awkward areas as well. There were some muddy patches which had clearly been riden though (tisk, tisk) and posed some problems. I got lost in the thick of it once but was able to find my way out eventually. I wholly agree that this would have been better having been w/ someone who knows the trails. My next time should be better.
As for those who thought this was boring, I can only say that if this trail wasn't exciting, I can't wait to see what's in store when I hit some of the more "exciting" trails.
Recommended Route: None yet.

Summary: Overall, you can make a loop with minimal backtracking that takes my out of shape body about 1:45 to complete. Lots of steep hills, but short. Lots of roots as well, a couple stream crossings, a couple of fast singletrack sections. Not too technical, but can challenge you physically if you're out of shape like me. Its worth riding w/ someone who knows the trails to get the loop down, but I'll describe it as best I can below.
Recommended Route: Park by the tennis courts, and take the paved path into the park; when the paved path splits, take the right fork, and a trailhead will be up on your left about 100 meters. Take this trail and it will spit you out by the playground. Keep going straight across the ravine, and you'll hit a couple fast straight sections of trail and a stream crossing. Go left on the other bank of the stream, prepare for a long uphill, a fast straight section, and you'll loop back across the stream, back up to the playground/ravine. Take the slight left of the fork at the playground/ravine and you'll eventually come out at a paved trail. Go down and across the wooden bridge and on your right you can pick up the trail again. This will eventually spit you out on the road, and you have to walk your bike across the road bridge across the stream, but then you can get back on the trail across the stream, go uphill for a ways, and take a right in the pine tree area. This will then keep going and spit you out onto the paved trail that you started on.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Only if you want to drive for 30 minutes.
Summary: I started riding this trail this year since I work very close by. Even when the days were shorter I was able to get to the trails quick enough to get a quick loop or two in after work.
The first couple of times I rode these trails I had a hard time making it into a loop. To remedy the situation I attended one of the frequent trail work days and got a tour from some folks who know it well. Since learning the loop I really like this place.
Not too much technical stuff but there's enough fast single track there to keep it fun! Great after work ride!
It's worth mentioning that thanks to the volunteer efforts from MORE these trails keep getting better and better. When all the improvements and new trails are in place this place is really going to rock.
Recommended Route: Can be kind of cunfusing at the moment. Find someone who knows the trails and ride with them.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Not much else around in the immediate area.

Summary: The person who said these trails aren't worth a long drive to get to was correct. I live about 5 miles away, and probably won't go back anytime soon. A couple of the trails were ok, but nothing too exciting. I rode with my girlfriend, and even she thought they were kinda boring.

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Summary: Great trails for those that live close. I wouldn't make it a long drive tho. Not really hard. In the PG side, there's a nice singletrack loop that was mostly built by MORE recently. The Holly trail (blue blazes) is probably the best little section of singletrack in the park. In the MoCo side, the riding's a little more steep and rugged, but poorly maintained (apparently they were not as cooperative with MORE as PG). I like it tho cuz it's challenging and the stream crossings are tricky. So glad to finally be able to get a real ride in during the week. Don't let MORE's work go to waste by riding when it's muddy. Would give it a 3, but gave it a 4 for convenience.
Recommended Route: Generally a maze of trails. You gotta figure out how to make the loops or have someone show you.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Patapsco for the more hardcore.
