PAINT BRANCH TRAIL: The trail starting from CherryHill Road Community Park is paved and it's in a woodeded area. You will also pass creeks and streams. When you get to the University of Maryland, there's an underpass, you will make a right turn to cross a bridge ( 30 feet or so ) then make a right turn again, that's where the connecting trail that will take you to Lake Artemesia. From Lake Artemesia, you take the Southernmost Exit and continue to:- NORTHEAST BRANCH TRAIL: This is a 6 mile trail of open land, you'll see lots of wildlife here like the Blue Heron, KingFishers, Ducks, Geese, Hawks, Deers and Trains too coming and going every few hours. Then you continue on to the Anacostia River Trail for about a mile to reach the end of this trail which is the Colmar Community Park. If you wanna continue to the Sligo and NorthWest Branch Trail then please goto the official website and download the pdf file map coz i've never tried it yet.

Summary:
These aren't MTB trails, they're paved hiker/biker trails. That being said, they are extremely convient for many commuters, as they connect DC, UMCP, Greenbelt, Takoma Park, and Silver Spring. I used to use them to commute to school and back from Wheaton. The twisty sections of Sligo are actually kinda fun if you ride them fast, but lookout cuz there's always a whole heap ah families, little kids, old ladies, strollers, etc.

Recommended Route:
Use these trails to commute if you live in the area.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Get on some real trails - Fairland is the only thing that's real close.
