Summary: If you want to do the steps above, start small (in front of the union).
Recommended Route: Make sure you jump the stairs by the fountain....Go down the long set of stairs by Ellicott.... Try to tame the steps in front of the chapel. And if your good enough you might be able to climb the steps by the undergrad library....can't forget the wicked steps that curve down around the Byrd Stadium parking garage..While your there, don't hit anybody, but make sure you startle them...
Other recommended trails in the same area: Take ride up to Avalon before it gets shut down....

Summary: Not a whole lot of fun for a mtb unless its a downhill rig.. The best, for BMX. I ride both BMX and MTB, and i gotta say, bmxin on campus never gets boring.. Jumps, stairgaps, rails to grind, benches to maim, a big dome near frat row, chicks to impress (ok so they aren't quite impressed but still)... a great time had by all.
Recommended Route: anywhere on campus
Other recommended trails in the same area: schaeffer farms

Ridden Trail: Once a week
Reviewed by: Chris
, from College Park
Summary: I've lived on campus for 3 years now and I still get my urban on about once a week. Plenty of stair gaps, benches, curbs, loading dock, fountains, ledges, and ramps; you just have to look around and be creative. The miles of obstacles suit any type of riding including trials, XC, BMX, or DH. Riding here has really helped my basic mountain skills for the trails. I can bunny hop about 2ft, drop off 6ft, and ride on a 4in wide curb for yards! The most fun I've had is with a freeride bike (~5in travel) It's been great for my balance, tracking, and arial skills. Now the stuff I encounter on the trails seems like childs play, but keep in mind I've been doing this for 3 years. Have fun and always wear the right protection.
Recommended Route: Route? How about looking up University of MD on a map, can't miss it.
