Summary: Hard, Hard, Hard. This was my first ride this year and it kicked my tail. First ride in 6 months and first trail ride on my new Cdale Rush full sussie. My first impression: The trail has two sides, uphill or downhill. The downhills are insane, very narrow trails so you can't see what's approaching the rider and the water bars every 30yards come at you VERY fast and you better be confident in your bunnyhopping skills or else you will get a close up view of the trail. ie. faceplant on the trail. The up hills are no joke either. Steep and technical. Remember those waterbars on the downhill? Well they are also present on the uphill trails. Very little level ground riding outside of the trails along the river. Rock gardens scattered throughout, just enough for a first time rider on these trails to lose his rythm. Watch out for hikers and fisherman. The closer you get to the water the more there are.
Suggestion: drop your seat for the downhills. Keep your weight back while hitting the rockgardens. I, for the first time, went "OTB" Over the Bars. Head first downhill heading for rocks is no fun. Enjoy the trails!
Other recommended trails in the same area: I would guess these trails are about 15-20 minutes from FairHill. Not as technical, but FairHill is in a class of its own.

Summary: I prefer to turn left at the Mill and go down to the old train tressel bridge. Go across there for a great warm up trail. From there you can access almost all the trail, from one to another. Another recommendation is the orange trail. Some killer up hill, followed by some rip roaring downhill. Anyway you are going to get a good ride, PLENTY of waterbars!
Recommended Route: Go on the Park off of Rock Run Road, and head toward the Mansion House and the Mill. Stop near the mill to take a look at the Trail Maps.

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Summary: I started riding last summer and this was the first place i rode. Great for building stamina and training. The hill climbs are unbeatable. The water bars aren't so bad going down hill but are a bitch coming up slow. You get used to them though and they serve a purpose because the trail is in great shape. This place gets you in shape to go to places like avalon and mckeldin and just hammer it! If anybody in harford county wants to ride hit me with an e-mail, my mtb partner just moved to Wyoming:( Take it easy and ride hard.! Clark d cdutterer@juno.com
Recommended Route: Whereverer, but along the river (ridge trail i think) is the toughest
