mostly smooth, hilly terrain. much of it is double track, with scattered singletrack. some roots and rocks, but generally on the easier side, technically speaking. some challenging and steep hills, but most are fairly short. the downhills can get very fast. these trails are crowded, so watch for other users!
Baltimore beltway (695) north towards Towson, take Delaney Valley Rd north. go approx. 4 miles there is a John Deere retailer on the left. park along the road here. the trailhead is on the right side of the road. (there are many other starting points for this trail system)
Summary: CLAIFICATION: previous comments on this review address 3 different start points/trail heads. While all reviews give great insight, they may be confusing as there are many LOCH RAVEN trails systems.
Recommended Route: see "Loch Raven - area".
Other recommended trails in the same area: Any of the Patapsco Valley State Park Areas.

Summary: Much more technical than the Seminary Road loop. If you enter at the end of Pot Spring Road, follow the fire road.. cross a little wooden bridge, and a few hundred yards on the right you will see a trail leading across the stream and up a rocky hill. This will lead you to the cliffs . There is also an eagles nest at the top iof the rocky hill facing the water
Other recommended trails in the same area: we need to get more info on trails in this area. especially Loch Raven / Cockeysville area. so many trails.. where do they go??

Summary: I have come accross 2 grave yards on this trail,,,the first is the MERRYMAN'S CEMETERY. Can anyone tell me a history of this grave yard? The second grave area I believe is just after the power lines,,,,what is this one? It is very old and on the right hand side only haveing stone foundatiouns, juxtapositioned w/loch raven,,,as the Merryman's cemetery was on the left of this trail toward the beginning of it. Can anyone help me w/my questions? I have looked all over and can not come up w/nothing. Thank you.
Recommended Route: From Dulaney Valley Rd.,headed out of towson, take a left on Pot Springs. Drive all the way to the end,,and the first street before the fenced in area is where you park,,(a side street). Walk down 40 feet and you will see a road that is chained off,,but it leads right into Loch Raven in a big way.

Summary: Enter trail head on other side of sewage treatment plant (go to intersection and take a wiff).
Recommended Route: Park at Dulaney Valley and Seminary Rds.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Don't listen to those po-dunks from PA or Fred-neck, they can't understand the concept that people living in the metro area need to have a good trail system near by. Loch Raven rocks. If you want a good work out, with technical challenges, and still have time to get home to have sex with your farm animals, then this is the place! Opps, that last part was for those that invite us to come up to 'deliverance country' to ride.
