Weekend Warrior Summary: Newbie rider here. I infact just got my bike last friday (today is Sunday). This was the first real trail I ever rode. Spent a good two hours riding having a blast. Crashed because I tried something out of my league. Gotta learn from your mistakes. Good beginner trail. Beautiful scenary Recommended Route: I started off behind the Cabin John Ice rink, near the baseball feilds. I really didnt know where I was going, I just rode wherever there were trails :o

Cross Country Rider Summary: This is a great trail for riders at any level. It has a variety of different obstacles, and has many different legs of the trail (i.e. Cabin John to Seven Locks, Seven Locks to River Road, etc.) It is maintained very well, except for when the occassional hurricane decides to pay a visit. However, if there are too many changes made to the trail we will lose our privalege to ride it, SO DONT SCREW IT UP! Anyway, I would highly recommend it to anybody of any skill level. Recommended Route: Cabin John to Seven Locks, then Seven Locks to River Road and back, or vice versa. Other recommended trails in the same area: Shaeffer Farms

Cross Country Rider Summary: Thanks to whoever rerouted the trail around the monster logs. Recent trail work makes this ride a pleasure again. Hurricaine Isabel knocked a lot of trees down and now they have finally been dealt with. Recommended Route: Start at River Rd near seven locks and ride northwest following the blue paint markers to the playground/kiddie train and loop back. Other recommended trails in the same area: Shaeffer Farms, Watershed, Wakefield, Patapsco...

Weekend Warrior Summary: Basically this is a great local trail. I've only MTBed a few times but i love it. My dad used to a lot but now i have his old bike, but he did it on a hybrid so its not very challenging but it's a lot of fun. I'm still bitter because I blew the chain off my bike and didn't get to finish, but b/c I live in bethesda it's very convenient and a fun little ride for all levels of rider. Recommended Route: I like to start at the nature centre on democracy and ride some of the loops around there then take it back that way and daringly dash across 7 locks and Democracy and a little ways after the sidewalk on demcracy ends finish up the the rest then turn arounda and head back.

, from Wheaton Summary: Ummm, let's see, this trail isn't exactly hard or very technical, but it's not exactly for beginners either. It's got a few short, steep ups and downs, logs, stream crossings, and is a whole lot of fun if ridden fast. Tight singletrack, and it's real clase to DC. It can even be accessed from the canal (cross bridge just above lock 7 and ride under freeway and up hill to Mcarthur blvd). The southernmost section (seven locks to mcarthur) is extremely technical and will be some hike-a-bike even for the most advanced riders. Those of you who said it's too easy try that part. I ride this often when I don't have time for Patapsco or Gambrill. Recommended Route: ride the whole thing from Goya Dr to the Canal. Other recommended trails in the same area: Riverbend, Difficult Run, Shaeffer, Seneca.
