Some climbing, and one heck of a ride down. It isn't not for beginners because of the descent. One has to watch out for riders coming up and wildlife (deer, moose, bear, water buffalo)on the way down.
Park at the public boat landing at Hancock Pond on Hancock Pond Road. Across from the parking lot is where you'll begin...take it into the woods and hang a left. Go about a mile and take the left before a small pond. Follow this part of the trail across a bridge and into an open area, when it comes to an open area stay right and go up hill. Stay on this for about mile and half until you reach Rte. 117. Take a left up the hill and turn left into Beartrap Mtn road. Steep climb on a tar road to the top. At top, there the trail is stright ahead of you. Get ready for a descent. It is fairly tight and turny. You'll come out to a field. Go through it and bear left. At four corner intersection, go right. Through the pine trees watch out for sapling stumps, and a sharp right. Ride down to the narrow gauge railroad bed, and take a left for about two miles or so back to your car.
