Much of the trail is covered in limestone and relatively smooth. The Gorge Run Trail will test your endurance for sure. Overall, great place to introduce newby to the sport.

This is a brand new park that just opened up. Great camping facilities. Trails are covered with limestone for the most part, though new section around the beach area is loose sand and should be avoided. The main loop going up to Gorge Run Trail was a challenging climb. I'd say impossible to climb on one slope where we had to bail and walk the bikes up. After that, we were treated with interesting views along the rim of the gorge and some fun ups and downs before descending back to the lower area. Nothing technical about the runs at all; some very challenging on your stamina, though. All in all, a good place to introduce a newby to the sport.

Recommended Route:
We went counter-clockwise around the main loop. Don't know if going clockwise would make it any better, but plan to try it that way when I go next time.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Comite in Baton Rouge or Clear Springs in Bude, MS.
