Nice and rolling,not too twisty,not too turny,not too technical.Some nice rock shelve sections,and a cool not too skinny North shore bridge.A all around fun trail,and now the longest unbroken singletrack in the park.

Summary:
The aftermath of the windstorm on Sept. 14th allowed for a few more technical features on this trail. If you haven't been on this trail for a while, be aware that trees may still be across the trails. But once you know where they are, all the more fun! KYMBA is doing a great job with these trails and the Olmstead Parks in their contribution also.

Recommended Route:
Seneca Park Rd.

Summary:
One of my first trail rides, this one was well maintained and had plenty of interesting features for a beginner like myself. Fast descents, manageable climbs, a few nice jumps and a few good technical spots that challenged my beginner skills nicely.

A twisty, hilly two mile loop that is never far from civilization. Well maintained by KYMBA, and easily accessed in a number of places.

Recommended Route:
I found the trailhead just under the overpass on Old Cannons Lane, after taking a left off of Cannons Lane just North of I-64. I continued down Old Cannons and took a right onto Seneca Park Road for about a quarter mile and took the the first trailhead I saw - turns out it was the Wilderness Trail Loop. There is a sign just a few dozen feet into the trail.

Summary:
This is a fantastic trail for the beginner rider. It's got plenty of great, quick singletrack through thick woods with climbs and descents that are enough to get the blood flowing but not so bad that you're gasping for breath at the end. There are enough technical spots to make it interesting, but most of them are just tricky enough for a newbie to get the hang of pretty quickly (primarily roots, small logs, creek crossings, exposed limestone, and a narrow bridge). It's a primo loop ride for people still getting used to mtb'ing (such as myself). For the intermediate or advanced rider, it is still a very pleasant ride, and might be used as a good warm-up or cool-down from the hillier and more technical stuff over at Cherokee Park.
I did the Wilderness Loop for the first time today (upon advice from other reviewers here at MTBR) and had an awesome time...especially when it began to rain -- HEAVILY! Not just a passing shower -- a steady downpour. The trail turned slick and muddy and was a blast.

Recommended Route:
I took the advice of another reviewer: Park at the basketball courts on Pee Wee Reese Road. Ride out of the parking lot to the road, and turn left. Cross the interstate and turn left at a storm drain/gutter thing. The main trail just goes straight through the woods to Seneca Park Drive, but if you watch closely you'll see another trail strike off to the east, which will take you back and forth and up and down through the remainder of Seneca Park (on the south side of the interstate) before eventually depositing you back at the main trail. There's also a small spur that follows Beargrass Creek for a few dozen yards before ending at Old Cannons Lane.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Cherokee Park's maze of trails is great, though the trails range widely from easy to hike-a-bike, and there's no way of knowing which trail does what until you're on it (which is half the fun!).

Also Seneca Park has a nice singletrack across Pee Wee Reese Road from the basketball courts (cross the road instead of turning left toward the Wilderness Loop).

Summary:
This trail has undergone lots of changes since first constructed,like most trails do. Final contruction just got finished,and there will be no more additions to this trail .The trail is now just over two miles long,and hopefully a fine exsample of what a metro park trail can be.

Summary:
This is a really fun trail to ride and it would be a great intro for beginners. It's all tight singletrack with tight turns and a few technical sections. There aren't any really tough climbs so it's a roller-coaster ride through the trees.

Recommended Route:
Park at the b-ball courts, cross bridge on road, turn left over storm drain, ride trail straight until you see sign for Loop. I like to go left at this point and end up coming out of the middle trail at the end.
