Ridden Trail: Once a week

Cross Country Rider Summary: Trails are mostly tight single track. Almost a 10 mile loop if you do everything. You'll want to contact the local shop ( Capital City Cycles) to get an updated trail map or see when the groups rides are. There are way too many deer running around and these deer have made lots of extra trails that aren't really MTB trails. 2 races a year here ( 12 Hours of Capitol View and the Blue Grass State games). Best trails in KY. Super well groomed and taken care. Thanks to all that have built these trails and keep them in this shape! Recommended Route: Off 676 / between US 60 and US 127. 4 miles from I-64 exit 58.

Cross Country Rider Summary: I really enjoyed riding the Capitol View trail system. There are nine miles of trail, some easy, some hard. Try to obtain a map, or ride with a local. Capitol City bike shop(on Hwy 60) has maps, and they are knowledgeable, good people.
Stay down along the river for the easier trails with great views of the Kentucky River. There are 2 huge sinkholes that the trails runs through and around, with 25 foot drops. You have to see it to believe it.
The trails at the top of the system are also fairly easy except for a killer side loop that is for experts only. Also wonderful views of the Capitol building. Big climb and descent.
I rode here during a drought, so the traction was real good. It looks like the kind of place that would be tough to ride in wet conditions.
Lots of roots and rocks, and the low lands obviously have some drainage problems, as there are many little bridges constructed.
Pros; Well designed trails, mtn bike specific=good flow. Good maintenance and signs. Thank to all who help build and maintain the trails.
Cons; Some fall line trails that are eroding quickly...... I also had a heck of a time finding all the trails, even with a map. I rode here for 5 hours over a weekend and still don't think I found all the trails.
The newest trail that is on the other side of the main road entry was too overgrown with weeds for me to bother riding.
As for the person that posted before me, whining about getting caught riding motorcycles on the trails. The trail are posted " No motorized vehicles".
As someone who puts in many volunteer hours building and maintaining my local trail system I would also be very upset if I saw someone tearing up the trails.
Your preaching to the wrong crowd, brother.

Weekend Warrior Summary: WOW! What a beautiful park. However, bikers should beware!!!!! My husband and I took our 14 &11 y/o daughters to one side of the park, where we thought we could teach them how to climb steep hills on their "motorized" dirt bikes. We'd seen others do, and there was no posting against it. There was a fellow mountain biker up there who went NUTS! I mean totally psycho. approached me after THROWING his $1300 mountain bike on the concrete road in a very threatening manner. He called the Frankfort police, to clarify the use of the trails, which by the way we weren't using... EVEN THE POLICE THOUGHT HE HAD SOMETHING MENTALLY WRONG WITH HIM! I have video of him. If you need the video for identification, email and I will gladly send it to you. RIDERS SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!!! HE IS DANGEROUS!!!! Even the girl that was riding with him stated how fearful she was. Of course, we laughed about it ALL the way home. It was a PRIME example of the type of character we teach our daughters to STAY AWAY FROM!!!!!

, from Lexington, KY Summary: This trail is great. Mostly smooth and fast singletrack with some respectable climbs. Plenty of spots along the trail to keep you advanced riders interested an on your toes. If you're even planning on traveling anywhere near Lexington or Frankfort, you'd be ignorant not to stop and give this trail a try. Recommended Route: From Lexington...I64 West to Frankfort/Versailles Exit. Turn right off of exit. Take a left on Hwy 676. Just past the 2nd light, turn right by the park sign then first left.
