Weekend Warrior Summary: Fast flowing single track with some double track trails. Some good climbs and some really good downhill action with sharp switchback trails that keep you on your toes. Alot of rooty hills and trees to ride over and through with some wood plank bridges to boot. If you like drop-ins there are quite a few of them on the outer edges of the wooded area's as well. Recommended Route: From the circle drive to the west of the Mansion at Cedar Crest take the trail north and ride to the right. Then follow around toward the river. It has alot of technical skill type things to ride. Then take the red trail if you want some adventure. There is so many trails at this place you can really just spend all day there riding and taking different routes.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Dornwood Park

Cross Country Rider Summary: Trail has by far satisfied my arobic tastes. Some long climbs and twists and turns. I like them as a good "keep on your toes" trail that suites many tastes. Theres are trails that are easy and trails that are difficult. Most are the same basically moderate effort ascending up to have fun descending down. The lower red trail (closest to the train tracks) seems to take forever to get dry after a rain. See how you feel about the blue trail before you take the red. Red trail is basically what you take after you've grown bored of the Blue and want more of a rush. Recommended Route: Red trail hits the adreneline to my tastes. Start at the parking lot, take the dirt single track into the woods and have a blast. Other recommended trails in the same area: Lawrence River Trail

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is a great trail for everyone, there is trails that fit everyone's riding capabilities. During the spring, summer, and fall there is a lot of people on the main loop of the trail (walkers). This trail is now referred to as MacLennan Park, since it has been adopted by the Kansas Trails Council, who has closed some worn trails and established new off shoots. This is used for the Sunflower State Games for the mountain bike races every year. Lots of terrain and scenery change, one part of the park you are in dense brush and trees, other areas you are surrounded by cedar trees(why the Govenor's mansion is called Cedar Crest), and when you are at the top of some of the bluffs, your eyes are blown away by the views of the river and surrounding area. Rolling meadows surround the timber and enclose the park to remind you yes Dorthy, this is Kansas. Other recommended trails in the same area: Perry Biking Trail, Lake Perry State Park

Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail has a little bit of everything. Open double track, tight singletrack, rolling singletrack, rocky singletrack, a service road that cuts it in half, and you can even visit the "tick farm" all the way down by the river. I have been pretty upset with it lately, because I get off work around 4:30 p.m. and I still run into HUGE/BURLEY spider webs. I guess there aren't any more morning or day riders that can clean those things off for me by the time I get there. Recommended Route: There's a pretty rocky climb on the back side that still kicks my butt, so I like to start out down by the highway parking lot taking the gravel road on the left all the way up to the top and decend down the back side to the service road.
You can then either take the service road up to the top and out or cross over it to more singletrack loops and climb up to a 3-way crossing. If you go left, you climb up to the Governer's mansion, go right and climb all the way back up to the gravel where you started. Other recommended trails in the same area: Dornwood or Perry
