This is an old railroad track trail. It has the railroad ties removed and is very basic.

Summary:
Approximately 5 miles are now open with a limestone screening surface (big improvement for riding as opposed to granite RR rock). RR bridges on this section have been decked w/concrete and railings have been installed. Trail development continues on unopened section. Parking area was developed at 53rd street crossing. It is a beautiful trail - looking forward to further development!

Recommended Route:
Start at 53rd street and go south to Berryton and back.

Summary:
Contrary to the preview below, the landowners arent the ones who got the trail closed. The irresponsible actions of the interm trail group and their lack of responsibility over the past 12+ years is what closed the rail corridor. And the exact figure from Shawnee County was $365,000 just to meet safety standards. Please remember that it is ALL closed and according to the Kanza Rail Trail Conservancy can only be accessed with their permission. In other words if you enter the trail without said permission you are tresspassing. But remember, have fun.

Recommended Route:
IT IS ALL CLOSED AS OF THIS POSTING

Summary:
This trail is not open. The landowners have succeeded in stopping development since Shawnee County estimated it would take over $300,000 just to get the abandoned right of way safe enough to just walk on. The trail is blocked in several places.

Summary:
This trail is pretty hard to ride. It's covered with a lot of fairly big rocks(about 1 1/2 in in diamater), but it is pretty fun to ride. It goes through the woods and follows a small creek, and it crosses the creek on railroad bridges several times. I think that this trail would be a lot better if they put smaller rocks on it.

Recommended Route:
I think that you should go south. It's alot longer.
