Fast switchbacks and whoop-di-dos. Some fast technical, but nothing really too tough. Wooded area, the trails run along Deer Creek. Fun and fast. For info on other trails in the Topeka area see Dirt Rag Mag August 98 # 67 issue

Summary:
I WAS LIVING IN THE AREA FOR A YEAR AND WAS LOOKING FOR A PLACE CLOSE BY TO KEEP THE LEGS FROM GOING FLABBY. SOME FUN CAN BE HAD ON THESE TRAILS IF YOU KEEP A HIGH PACE. LOOK OUT AT STREAM CROSSINGS AFTER RAIN!!! YOU CAN RIDE THROUGH THEM BUT THE DEPTH MAY SURPRISE YOU.

Recommended Route:
PARK AT THE BASEBALL FIELDS, GO THROUGH OLD BUILDING DOWN SMALL DECLINE AND HAVE FUN. THERE IS SEVERAL ROUTES YOU CAN CHOOSE, BUT THEY ALL END UP BACK AT THE PARKING AREA.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
GOVS. HOUSE, SHUNGA, CLINTON LAKE, LAKE PERRY.

Summary:
The first section of trail starts off fairly easy but has some good climbs and switchbacks with some rocky areas, it is about a 2 mile loop back to the barn and down to the bridge. The second section is pretty flat with a log jump and some nice drop ins along an old creek bed, just less than 2 miles. The third section starts off pretty easy with a fun run through an often dry creek bed and some short climbs. There are some short, rocky climbs in this section that are sort of challenging. It is about 2.5 miles on this part. I ride this trail 3-4 times a week, it is a great trail for being right in town. If you are a bicycle god this trail might be too easy, but for most people it is an interesting and challenging trail. I have ridden Colorado and West Virgina and this is still a fun trail. Some of the other reviews made it sound boring and easy. Try it I think you will like it. I have taken a lot of beginners there and they struggle and usually crash a bunch, so you should be able to handle your bike fairly well to ride this trail.

Recommended Route:
There are 3 sections to this trail, start on the middle trail to the left of the old dairy barn. Stay left at most intersections and you will have a good route for the first section. As you finish the first section, go through the old barn and down the hill to the bridge, go right and follow trails for the easier second section of trail. You will end up at the bridge again, go left for the 3rd section of trails. Get someone to show you around if you can because the trails weave around and you can miss some good stuff if you don't know where to go.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Perry (great, but rocky 14 miles), Lake Clinton (good, but lots of ticks during the summer months), Governor's or Menniger's (often overgrown by mid-summer, but spring, fall and winter are good) Lawrence River Trail (fast and fun) Shunga Trail (great for kids and beginners who need to learn to handle their bike)

Summary:
This is the first time that I rode this trail and I didn't think much of it. I thought that it was pretty boring, mybe because I am used to trails in Colorado when I go on vacation. This was just a trail that I thought might be a test for my new bike, but it wasn't. The best thing that I found on this trail was a small drop off which was just a dryed up creek bed.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Haven't been to any yet.
