Lake Perry Bike Trail
25 reviews
 4.64 of 5

There are several sections of trail. Most of it is built to skirt along the bluffs lining the lake. The bluffs are tree covered and strewn with rocks making for some technical sections. Full utilization of the bluffs make for some long climbs and descents (for Kansas). Fall and Winter riding are made interesting by the deep leaves. Several spots allow great views of the lake and surrounding countryside. Be sure to look for wildlife. Bald Eagles, wild Turkeys, Deer, Quail and Squirrels are a few animals you may encounter.

Summary:
Smartly laid out trail that has two things you don't see often in Kansas: exposure and switchbacks. Mostly rocky, hilly singletrack. Technical enough to keep experienced riders interested, but decent introdution to technical riding for a novice if you don't mind pushing your bike occasionally. Navigation is pretty easy with a map (available at trailhead), but trail intersections aren't always well marked, so don't be surprised if you miss a few turns.

Summary:
Loved this trail system!! Rode Skyline, MadMile, and Wild West. Didn't get a chance to ride Logan's Run or the other longer trails due to time constraints, but I will be back to check them out at a later date, guaran-damn-teed!!!

Recommended Route:
Well marked, and maps available at the trailhead, just go!!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Landhal in Blue Springs, MO
and the singletrack that follows the river in Lawerance..not sure about the name...

Summary:
This is probably the best trail in Kansas. Decent climbs, fairly technical but overall just fun to ride.

Recommended Route:
All of it is good. For short and intense go Skyline to Wildwest, Great White or Mad Mile. For longer rides head out along blackfoot, Twin Peaks, Coppperhead and Logans Run.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Clinton Lake, KC area stuff...

Summary:
The scenery is excellent and the trails are well maintained and marked and maps are available at the trailhead. As a parent whose oldest child wants to learn to ride with mom and dad, Lake Perry has a excellent 1/4 mile trail near the trailhead built especially for children and beginners to work on their basic skills.

Summary:
I like this trail, I have been to Lawrence, Dornwood in Topeka, and at the park in Kansas City. It is much more technical then the other trails, I am a pretty aggressive rider, and I fly through this trail, but its a nice path to take for more reasons then one.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Dornwood, Lawrence, Clinton
