Summary:
J.L has expanded on this trail since last review. This nice piece of single track has now opened up to a 7 mile trail with the opening of a new southwest trail that hooks up with the original by way of lake road two track. This trail is a well maintained moderate loop, the user will enjoy the open prairie along side of Banner Creek Lake as well as wooded sections.A great trail for the novice rider or the expert rider ready for a change out of the ordinary.

Recommended Route:
Trail to be rode either direction

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Any gravel road ride in the area. Or go west on hwy 16 to Tuttle Creek Reservoir

Reviewed by: J. L. Cleland , from Hoyt, Ks

Summary:
This ride begins as a 2-track maintenance road but soon changes to mowed, grassy singletrack as it winds along the northeast side of the lake across open meadows toward the dam. Please do NOT shortcut the trail by climbing the side of the dam! (The county comissioners are watching this closely and will CLOSE this part of the trail if paths start to develop on the SIDE of the dam!) The trail proceeds across the top of the dam, providing splended views of the lake and the countryside. Continuing along the shoreline on the south side of the lake, the trail soon enters a densely wooded area. Up to this point the trail is suitable for beginners but now becomes more intermediate. As it winds thru this beautiful riparian area around the coves on the southeast shore, the trail snakes thru the trees with several sharp turns, some off-camber areas, a couple of footbridges, and some short climbs and descents. This is an incredibly beautiful area, so take your time and enjoy it! At the southwest end of the woods, the rider can either loop back or leave the woods, following the grassy shoreline another l/2 mile to the south launch ramp, from where the rider can return over the same route or return via the lake and county roads around the south and east sides of the lake (NOTE: This road route will require riding l/2 mile of paved 2-lane highway (K-l6) on the return to the north park entrance.) The trail is mostly dirt/grass, with only very few rocks and roots. It's a great family ride or one for someone just getting into mtn. biking. About 4 l/2 miles out-and-back.

Recommended Route:
For a good out-and-back ride, begin on the north shore above the launch ramp & ride toward the dam.
