Summary:
Trail system is definately very primative, could use some TLC. I ride this trail in the late fall and winter when Sugar Bottom closes for the season. Very technical, lots of roots, ruts, steep hills, etc. Trails are in a spider web arrangement so it is hard to form long loops, but just keep riding (it's all pretty good). Be ready to get cut up if you ride in the late spring and summer, like I said it needs some TLC (trimming). Great trail (for Iowa)

Recommended Route:
Just ride, no real loops. Watch out for downed trees.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Sugar Bottom (ICORR knows how to build trails!) Loud Thunder

Summary:
Soukum Ridge is a commendable piece of single track for central Iowa. There are several sections of entertaining technical riding including some steep hills and fast descents. However the trails are relatively short so plan on doing many laps to get some mileage. Soukum Ridge is a nice little slice of mountain biking to wet your taste buds. These trails are remarkable because they are in an area pretty undeveloped as far as off-road riding is concerned. In the past there was also a small race series held here which is always nice to see. If you are planning to travel to ride Soukum Ridge don't spend too much time when you could travel a half hour to sugarbottom, an infinately more exciting trail!

Recommended Route:
Outer Loop Single Track

Other recommended trails in the same area:
SugarBottom, FDR Park, Decorah,

Summary:
Lots of ups and downs, twists and turns. Beware of the logs that sometimes fall across the trail. Recommended riding time is in the fall or early spring before the foliage gets to thick. Trails will change quickly so be ready. Would not recommend riding when muddy.Good time, so try it out. Can get trail maps from Rider Sales and Service in Washington.

Recommended Route:
Take an immediate left out of the parking lot and climb up the hill and keep on the trial and keep going east. Once you get out of the revene just try to hit all of the trails up there. Make an effort to go down the terraced hill.( Watch for the barb wire fence at the bottom.) Plan on spending 2-4 hours here riding all the trails. Be on the watch for trails immediately branching off. Also find upper parking lot and take the trial to the north of the lot and take the first right. This is for the advanced intermediate riders and up. Wear a helmet!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Brinton Timber, Lake Darling, Sugar Bottom

Summary:
lots of steep hills start in parking area and climb up a ridge on the left. once high there is a pond. lots of fast tight downhills.
only confusing part is a crossroads where you have several choices to go. Usually going so fast just pick the one that seems easiest. I also ride sugarbottom frequently and this is a nice alternative. well maintained out of the way trail system

Recommended Route:
whole thing

Other recommended trails in the same area:
sugarbottom in North Liberty -excellent
