Sunderbruch Park
3 reviews
5 of 5
5 miles and growing, SWEET single track with ummm everywhere! Some decent hills both up and down, large obstacles on black diamonds have routes around for beginners. Take Tanglefoot West until you see the Sunderbruch sign on the left. (You'll think you're out of town) From parking lot- cross bridge, Blue trail starts immediately on left and this is one of the toughest climbs in the park. For green trails, follow blacktop to the top of the hill, green goes to left and right.
People from out of town have come back repeatedly, and sales of mountain bikes in this area has increased due to this one park opening. Seriously sweet singletrack trails made and maintained by the Quad City Friends of Off Road Cycling
Trail map on Kiosk and downloadable from www.qcforc.org
Summary: you won't believe your in davenport, iowa. this IS in the city proper, but you would not know it with the horse farms accross the road and grazing deer. it is a true quad city treasure.
the trail is still being developed by the city and the wonderful people of FORC. my 1st time riding this trail was leaving from the lulac club, off rockingham road. but, now it has it's own parking area off of telegraph road. the trails are well marked with a color scheme of green, blue and black. you decide how good you are. no matter what color you choose, you'll be very happy. the trails are all single track with emphasis on technical. this is not your mothers bike trail. lots of turns....steep grades.....well maintained to highest standards. you'll like it! it dries out quickly after rains.
Recommended Route: leave from the parking lot and go up. check for the color coded trails.
Other recommended trails in the same area: as mentioned previously....syvan island in the middle of the mississippi river on the border of rock island and moline. loud thunder for REAL hills.

Summary: Vibrato hit the nail right on the head. This is a great trail. Its technical enough for more experienced riders, like vibrato, but yet it is easy enough for beginners like me. The descents are great and the hills aren't too tough to take the fun out of it. There are plenty of obstacles. The great thing is that the FORC organization is always adding more trails and modifying the current ones. GREAT!!!!

Summary: Flow and Ummm from beginning to end! Trails are designed to increase the technical difficulty with speed, not just increase the effort required like most trails. All Blacks have bombing descents and moderate climbs. Trails hardpack nicely for fast rolling. While equestrians are allowed in the park, they are not allowed on Bike trails and vice versa. This means you won't get horse dung on the mouthpeice of your waterbottle while riding. How Sweet is that?!
While a fairly short trail system of 5 miles more or less, this place will keep you entertained until you're too tired to go on!
Reccomended route below may change as trails are being added to this system. This is a City of Davenport Park. Please be respectful so Mountain Bikers will continue to be welcome here.
Recommended Route: For beginners, up the blacktop trail and right into the woods on the green at the top of the hill. Follow the green around by skipping the 1st bypass (at the 1st fork in the trail, stay to the right) and take the 2nd one (at the 2nd Fork, stay to the left, go over the bypass through a fence cut and go straight on the blue trail, not to the right on the black trail!) making a large loop back to the blacktop path where you started. Nice, easy, fun ride with challenging yet do-able grades.
For veterans: left into the woods as soon as you cross the bridge on the blacktop path on the blue trail. When you get to the tee at the top of the hill, go right. At every intersection, stay to the right. You'll hit all the good stuff and 4.5 miles later be back at the parking lot one tired dog. Repeat as needed.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Sugarbottom, and for a unique riding experience- Sylvan Island.
