Single track, 4mi dirt. bit overgrown. 10miles street. 14 Miles total around Clear Lake. Many interesting lake homes to look at. Folks are very friendly and the cars seems to be used to bikes and runners :)

Trail Directions
You'll have to look carefully and it is not well maintained. I recommend starting in town and going clockwise around the lake. Stay on the roads that are closest to the lake at all times or you'll miss the entrance. The trail head is at the very end of SouthShore drive (actually it turns into 240th). 240th will turn into a gravel road that comes to a dead end. At this dead end you'll find a rather overgrown dirt trail. Follow this and keep as close to the lake as possible. It will take you about 4miles along the shore. Lots of overgrown weeds, but it is much better than going all the way around the state part to the far south on the road (well...if you like dirt anyway :). The trail ends at 242nd street about 4miles to the west. You can then take 242nd to Balsam Ave and north to complete the loop around the lake on pavement (about 14mi around the whole lake). I wouldn't make a special trip to Clear Lake just for the mtn biking, but if you're there anyway go for it :)

Summary:
Some nice riding around the lake....the dirt trail through Farmer's Beach is quite overgrown in most spots though. It's too bad, since it would be some nice trail if it wasn't so overgrown. I live about a half mile from this trail, so I grew up riding on it and it's what got me into mountain biking, so I guess I've got kind of an emotional attachment to it! The off-road portion is probably only 2-3 miles long, but what's there is some decent riding...minus all of the thorns overhanging the trail.

Recommended Route:
The only one that's there!!! There's a wide grassy portion that splits off at the beach, but that's not near as much fun as the singletrack!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lime Creek Nature Center, Pilot Knob
