Weekend Warrior Summary: As it is right now, it isn't great. It stays muddy way too long . It isn't maintained very well. Cool stuff by the Brickyard/lake. Lots of potential for some awesome trails. Recommended Route: Brickyard hills by the lake.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Nice beginner/intermediate trail. Approximately 6.5 miles from one end to the other. North half is very level with some open areas along a power line and along the north side of I-80. South half in the area around the old brickyard is more technical. Have encountered ATVs before which I believe are illegal on this trail. I've never had problems with the ATVs - I just pull over and let them go. Lots of ruts along the route which leave many mud holes for quite a while following a significant rain. Lots of deer and other wild life. Quite a few good views of the Des Moines River when you slow down enough to take in the scenery. Recommended Route: North half for easy riding, South half for more technical riding. Other recommended trails in the same area: Greenwood Park

Cross Country Rider Summary: Trail follows the river for a distance of about 16 miles. Overall flat terrain with a few small steep hills. Also some roller coaster like areas also.
The trail was originally used by ATV's so it is not a "singletrack". I would call it doubletrack I guess.
ATV's still use the trail (illegally) so conditions vary on the trail.
If you don't want to do any climbing this is a good trail. Lots of time for constant pedaling without much need for shifting. Watch your speed as there are lots of blind corners and riders use the trail in both directions.
The bridge connecting the south and north sections was completed a couple years back. Recommended Route: Only one.

, from Des Moines, IA Summary: This trail is pretty cool. It is long and there are scenic views along the river, especially in the fall. There are also some very steep downhill trails along the banks. Becareful after rain, this mud is insane, i couldn't ride 10ft without my tires and brakes getting so gunked up they couldn't move. Recommended Route: Go to the intersection of M.L.K. Parkway and Douglas/Euclid (they are the same street.) Park in the target parking lot, and you will see the entrance sign for the trail. Other recommended trails in the same area: Greenwood trails by the Science Center, Greenwood Park and Ashworth pool.
