South West Park

Mostly Quad Trails but this place is newly discovered by everyone else. This land is owned by the City of Davenport and is in the discussion phase right now of what exactly to do with it a park of some sort with multi use trails are one of the options. In this place you will forget you are in the city it has hills to make your legs scream going up & your brain scream coming down & in between you'll be thinking how come I havent been to this place before? The hills are rooty off camber& STEEP but dont let that scare you. There is a creek (Walnut Creek)that in the winter its only 3-6in. deep a trail runs back/forth across it with some fairly technical transfers but it's so sweet! Lots of BIG HILLS for everyone or Semi Flat trails too. this place just needs a helping hand.So if you wnat to ride your bike and live in the midwest you should check this place out.Right now there are no trail rules so if cross country is your thing go hit those quad trails & if freeriding/downhill is yours dont let this place go by.

Summary:
The newly-cut 3.5 mile loop around Southwest Park's lower third is a very, very nice ride for both the intermediate and advanced. The trail does not currently have signs and post markers, but can be easily followed.

Situated in a very hilly and picturesque terrain, the trail features off-camber downhills, tight technical turns(some are handlebar mangling), bridges, and a rather rude (but sweet) uphill entrance. The FORC team will be building more in the coming months/year.

For those of you who have ridden Sugar Bottom, this park will give you a nice workout-if not a better one! In fact, I think this park will eventually easily rival Loud Thunder.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Other Q-C area trails include Sylvan Island, Scott County Park, and Loud Thunder.

Summary:
Man has this trail progressed. Last year it was nothing but a bunch of rutted ATV trails, now it's full of uphills, downhills, and everything in between. SWP has turned out to be a pretty solid XC trail. There's a ton of potential here and I can't wait untill next year to see what all takes shape. Great job FORC for all the hard work!

Sugarbottom baby.
