Cross Country Rider Summary:
Wide variety of trail...some wiede, flat & fast, some tight and technical, some rocky, etc. For the most part the trails aren't too challenging, but off of the Stage Coach loop there's some technical singletrack, if you look carefully. Keep an eye out for singletrack branching off of the main trail...seems like everytime I ride, I find a new trail. By the way, where the heck is the soar trail?! Recommended Route:
Stage Coach loop, find some singletrack off of that one. I also like the route the Eagle Scouts set up...not sure of the name of that one. I don't pay attention to names..I just ride 'em!! Other recommended trails in the same area:
Pilot Knob, Farmer's Beach (see Clear Lake under trail names).

Cross Country Rider Summary:
This trail was pretty easy for the most part, a lot of gravel and horse trails. There are a few good single track side trails off the stage coach loop that have some good elevation change and good technical junk to ride on, but these are sometimes hard to find and ruined by horses. Good system of trails to put in some miles off road, but not enough to satisfy the more technical riders. Recommended Route:
North from the Nature Center Other recommended trails in the same area:
"The Hemorroid" isn't bad but it's short

Another area that could have cool trails but doesn't. I feel sorry for the real mt. bikers in Mason City that only have this area to ride in the own town. I heard someone was working on a trail that goes from the back of Lime Creek all the way to Forest City and it's called the Soar trail, I couldn't find it though... Recommended Route:

I've been in town for just over a month, and this is the main trail system that I've located. There are lots of areas of double track, and then some fairly easy singletrack. I think it is a great trail because it is out my back door, but it is far from being challenging. It has little elevation change, and is fairly simple otherwise. I thought it was worth riding if you are in the general area, but I wouldn't drive any distance to get here. I read about this Soar trail, but don't know where it is at. Could someone post a review of it with directions on how to get there?
