BloodRoot - Kin-ti-on-ki

Kin-ti-on-ki is Miami for "Eagle's place, place of the eagle"
The Kin-ti-on-ki trail is a true single-track, and will challenge all levels of riders.
This 4-mile Single-Track winds through tall hardwoods and along the waters edge. This trail was named by Sue Strass, a local Native American, and member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma.
The entrance and exit to the 4-mile Kin-ti-on-ki trail are both connected to the BloodRoot trail at different points, therefore the Kin-ti-on-ki trail can be used as an optional "spur" as you head OUT, or as you head BACK on the main 13-mile BloodRoot trail.
This is a no-hunting area, and is a refuge for many animals. You have a good chance of seeing trophy deer, wild turkey or bald eagles as you experience this trail.
Please thank Dennis White, Wayne Ley, and the rest of the dedicated staff at Salamonie Reservoir, for developing and promoting this new trail-system. http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/properties/res_salamonie.html
There are at least 3 major options as you plan your ride on the BloodRoot trail-system, All routes start and end at the BloodRoot trail-head parking lot, which is across from the Nature Center inside of the Salamonie Reservoir, Lost-Bride West recreation area.
Some riding Options:
1)BloodRoot trail loop only = 13 miles
2)BloodRoot to Kin-ti-on-ki then return on BloodRoot to the Trail-Head parking lot. = 6 miles
3)BloodRoot to Kin-ti-on-ki then continue BloodRoot loop. = 16 miles
Summary: A NEW Flowing single-track trail with many technical challenges. The grand-opening for this trail is scheduled for June 7th, 2008. This is the second mountain-bike trail to be opened in the last two years and another single-track is scheduled to be built in the Fall of 2008 and opened in the Spring of 2009. Salamonie Reservoir is quickly becomming a mounain-bike destination.
Recommended Route: Start at the BloodRoot parking lot (acoss from the Nature Center) and follow BloodRoot for 1/2 a mile until you reach the Kin-ti-on-ki Trail-Head. The Kin-ti-on-ki is 4 miles long and ends when it T's back into the BloodRoot trail.
Now you have 3 choices:
1) Continue OUT on the BloodRoot trail (another 13 miles of riding)
2) Turn around and ride Kin-ti-on-ki in the other direction (another 4.5 miles of riding)
3) Take the BloodRoot trail BACK to the parking lot (another 1.5 miles). ENJOY!!!
