Ridden Trail: Every few months
| |
Reviewed by: Mark Summary: Just an update for those of you interested. The trail has again received some improvements. Just past the one mile marker a new bridge has been installed replacing 2 very dilapitated bridges. It is very nice and staff has done an excellent job installing it. In addition, in the same area, steps were installed in order to avoid erosion problems. Sorry for any problems this may cause for the riders, but being a hiking trail, it is was a needed necessity. Please enjoy. Mark

, from Highland Summary: Just an update that the trail has gotten a few upgrades this past summer. Two new bridges were put in and some of the pointy stubs from trees were removed. The Parks & Rec. Dept. is still aware that there needs to be one more bridge improvement to make this a really good trail and will attempt to do that this fall, otherwise, who knows.

, from Temple, TX Summary: Well about the 3 mile mark somehow I got on the trail backwards?! Anyway a 3.5 miler turned into about 5--no biggie as I'm used to doing 8 to 10 mile loops. The 5 mile route took me 40 minutes. There's a lot of wooden plank bridges--some travel over smaller "ditches"--some need work (in disrepair). Lot's of loose limbs and small debris on the trail which is gonna cost a broken spoke and a truing. No biggie--all in all a fun loop. And it's probably the only suitable mtb loop for miles around I bet. No climbs to speak of until mile marker 2. Every year when I come through Highland I'll be sure to give it a spin. Pete Recommended Route: It's a loop! Other recommended trails in the same area: Castlewood in MO

, from Alton,Il. Summary: Tight, twisty singletrack over rolling terrain. Not too technical, but still alot of fun. More bridges than I've seen anywhere else.Ride the loop both ways to extend your ride time or ride everything twice for a real nice workout. This trail can be as easy or as hard as you choose depending on how fast you ride it.Well designed and very well maintained. Great job to Mark Rosen and whoever else helped build this trail. Recommended Route: Same as above Other recommended trails in the same area: SIUE,Chubb,Greensfelder,Castlewood,Berryman
