Summary:
Surreal Trail is the correct name, as a few people already mentioned. Very nice dirt trail when the trees/plants/weeds haven't grown outta control (June-Oct). Its a cool place since there aren't too many posers lurking around. Watch your tires for thorns and glass. There appears to be two or three areas where youngsters are partying and don't want mommy and daddy to see the empty beer/liquor bottles in their family garbage cans. I do not recommend riding alone because of the large fallen branches (positioned to crack your skull), and potential weirdos. There appears to be quite a few gang tags under the bridge areas, and some dam kids with paintball guns that absolutly love destroying the beuty of this untouched area. Watch out for twig-pigs at the main roads, as this is not a LEGAL trail.

Ask around, playboy.

Summary:
this is by far the best trail in the area, i hope it stays open. the north trail is technical enough to keep the clip in dorks and weekend yuppies off it but the south trail will end up being closed when every one start riding it just like every other decent trail was shut down over the years.

Recommended Route:
the rocky trail around the slough.

Summary:
Note also, this is not really a legal trail. Listed in the Palos map as "proposed" and you may get ticketed. Beware of FPD trucks hanging out at the entrance by 107th.

Recommended Route:
Like other poster sez, cross the road by the rocky dowhill in Palos, ride the litle tech section till you get to the canal trail, go left and stay right until you get to the area where there is that cement wall alongside the canal (trail will run close by it), then take one of the next left turns. The surreal trail runs paralell to the canal trail with bailouts every so often. Gets techier as you go along.

Summary:
Extreme, rugged, and hard-core. Not for newbies. If you ride clipless, be careful clipping in b/c you put your feet down quite a bit. Overall great trail.

Same as above.

Bullfrog or Palos (as far as I'm concerned they are the same). Anywhere in the Cook County Forest Preserves. (Anywhere LEGAL, that is) Happy Riding all.

Summary:
How about better directions to the Surreal trail? Do you ride 3 Ravines and take that rocky ravine down to 107th (I think), then cross 107th? There's a short technical trail over to what I think is the Cal Sag Channel, and a boring trail along the channel. Never explored it very far. Is this in the right area, or am I way off. Anyway, more detailed directions would be appreciated.
