Cross Country Rider Summary: This park opened up to mountain bikes with the enthusiastic cooperation from the villiage of Metamora last year. This trail already is seeing regular use, and is well ridden in like a trail that has been there for years.
It is all single track with switchbacks, bridges, small log piles, and fast flowing sections. Something for everyone here. Very well laid out and designed. Recommended Route: Coming into the park entrance, go past Lee Cabin on your left. Once past the cabin look for the trail head kiosk, enter trail here. This is trail #3. Go down hill then over first bridge (Put in by boyscouts). You will see second bridge (Also put in by boyscouts) Go to the left of bridge and ride across stream and up the other side. Follow over third bridge to another wet stream crossing, once across there go across another club built bridge. Take a left on trail #5. Go up #5 to top of ridge. There you will see trail #6. Trail #6 is currently a 1.8 mi loop only. You can go either direction, I usually do multiple laps up there.
Once done, go back down #5 back to trail #3. Take a left on #3 through another wet stream crossing, follow to trail #4. (Note: I would not recommend going on #3 beyond the intersection with #4 due to the multiple stream crossings that are not yet armored and were obviously put in my ATV's years ago.) Take #4 up to trail #2 and across another bridge and out to the ball diamonds. Follow tree line trails back to kiosk. Other recommended trails in the same area: Farmdale Resevoir, Comlara, Independence Park, Jubilee College State Park, Dirksen Park. All are within 35 minutes of each other...How sweet is that?
