Jubilee State Park

Lots of singletrack ranging from medium/easy to very technical with lots of obstacles. Several creek crossings. The best riding in central Illinois
Rt. 150 west out of Peoria, through Kickapoo. Main entrance is off of 150 a few miles outside of Kickapoo. Turn Rt. into the park. Trail access is from virtually any of the parking areas.
Summary: No flame taken by PAMBA. It was rough going with the new Ranger for a while, but he's now allowing us one weekend a month to clear deadfall and repair stuff on the singletrack. Things are pretty much back to normal, except that we can no longer build stunts, etc. But we kinda knew that was coming down the pike. We actually got the Ranger to attend an IMBA class, so he now better understands what bikers are looking for...now we just have to convince the IDNR in Springfield that "singletrack" isn't 6 feet wide and maintained with a mower ;)
Jubilee is still a great park for beginners through intermediate riders. Matter of fact an upcoming race has a course that will test just about anyone's fitness level!!
You're right about it becoming "old school" again if they would ever deny access to MTB's. I think that's why the Ranger is more apt to not do that, he'd actually have more trouble on his hands that way than to just allow us to help do trailwork, etc.
Recommended Route: Straight to the west side of the park to hit Plank and New Trails...then maybe a jaunt down Prairie Lane and then over to the Log trail!!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Farmdale - new stuff all the time
Indy - sweet singletrack heaven
Dirksen - an oldie but goody
Comlara - fun fun fun
Kickapoo - it'll kick your poo!!

Summary: Just my two cents, for what its worth. I've been riding Jubes for many years, It used to be that the only single track was where people were riding the deer trails "out of bounds" a real cool grass roots trail effort. Then a local group formed and REALY improved the trails(bringing lots of riders as a result), the maintenance is darn good too, I cant even remember the last time a raspberry vine tried to rip my face off. But lately trail seems to be depressingly in a state of dismantlement. It seems that the new sheriff at the park doesn't like mountain bikers. The organization I know has been doing their best to keep things open, I signed their petition. But with organization comes politics, with politics comes political correctness, with political correctness comes capitulation, with capitulation comes corn holed...hold the lube. Well if they toss the mountain bikers off the single track, it will just be the good old days again. Bikers on the deer trails "out of bounds" :) That said, its still a fun trail if you want to bring your kids, or folks with lesser skills. And I can still look at it this way, I'll always have a place to ride when I'm hung over. PS: to PAMBA this is not a flame for you. Y'all have done awesome here.
Recommended Route: Start at Red Fox Run take the horse trail west around to the Prairie Lane Picnic area. Just past the picnic area there will be a "T" in the trial, go right. This will take you down a nice winding hill and accross a bridge. Just before you reach the Bow Wood Glen Road to your right you will see an entrance to the Log Trail, if you hit pavement you've gone to far. Now you be all warmed up and ready for some not bad for the middle of the prairie single track. You can feel safe going for broke on this trail. When you cross the horse trail again go straight and you will be on the 'bump and grind' trail. take this down to the horse trail again and turn right. Take the horse trail up and turn left onto the 'new trail' . On the 'new trail' not far from the first creek crossing (bridged) you will see a kind of intersection with the 'plank trail' keep left here. When you come back up again to the plank trail, go right and take it all the way back to the horse trail. Take the horse trail left and you will be back at Fox Run...Now, repeat all of the above until satisfaction is achieved.
Other recommended trails in the same area: #1=Indy, #2=Dirksen, #3=Farmdale, and a dont make a special trip #4=Comlara

Summary: I have biked most trails in this park for the last 18 years and it is without a doubt, the best mountain biking in Central IL. It's been great to see over the years, the park explode with mountain bikers. Who needs horses?
Recommended Route: Plank

Summary: This trail system has great single track. I would rate myself intermediate skill with a lean towards freeride over cross-country but I like it all. My bike is the Kona Bear, a sweet blend of xc and downhill (also called the Dawg in 03 and 04). The single track sections here challenge me often and give me that ear to ear grin I can't wipe off. That is what it is all about to me.
Recommended Route: Get the map from http://www.pambamtb.org (trails section). Park at Bow Wood Glen parking lot and take the Bow Wood Glen trail west to the Picnic Trail to the West Side intersection. The signs for New and Plank trail were ripped down yesterday but the map will make it clear. Take New Trail all the way south and Plank trail back up to the West Side Trail. Take West Side Trail to Valley View trail to Little Devil and turn east on the Log Trail. Do an out and back on this great little hopper then cross Little Devil, do the big log pile and head down Bump and Grind. We take Alt Bump and Gring back up and take the big log pile the other way to Little Devil to Shorty's Trail and then down the Prairie Lane single track. Then West Side to KME to New Trail oppisite direction and then Plack trail oppisite. Then KME to Ryan's Elbow to Lower Culvert to Upper Culvert to the Chute and bring Little Devil and Bow Wood Glen back in to the parking lot. Killer Ride!!!
Other recommended trails in the same area: Dirsen for jumps and north shore.
Kickapoo State Park for great xc stuff
Indy at Pekin is tops!
Farmdale is great
Comlara worth checking out

Summary: We camped at the state park, and rode in. Basically its some equestrian trails, with singletrack shoot offs every now and then, with a bunch of nice singletrack on on the west (right side). The main trails (multi-use-equestrian-stuff) are very tame, but the singletrack is fun. Nothing technical, but the trails have good flow. Good for the beginner, and intermediate rider. For advanced riders looking for a challenge, it would be a little boring (but still fun). The log run on the east side is good. Bring a friend here that is new to the sport, and they will get the fever. With some new trails, this could be a real gem. I rate the singletrack portions of this trail at 4 stars.
Recommended Route: Park at any of the lots. The better trails are not on the park maps, get the online map from little ade's. Adjust your route to minimize riding the horse trails and your good to go.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Dirksen for more advanced and riders that want a good up-n-down workout.
