Summary:
Contraire to the warning abt the trail being 'taken away'- the putz who bulldozed a section on his mining claim basically forced a rerouting of that section. Its all done and rides nicely. Alot of motorcycles have whoopedeedoo-ed parts of all the trails in the area, Lodgepole in particular but not to the point of destruction- just not as flowing/ripping of a downhill as before. It gets a bit loose later in the season so early in spring/summer (after snowmelt) is the cats jamys. You'll want to descend Imperial also esp after the scooters have tilled it all season.
Happy trails!

Summary:
Amazing to hear that there are rattle snakes, goatheads and washboard on this trail. Ignorance has displayed itself well in some of these reviews. The Greenhorn Gulch trail system is by far one of the best on the west coast. Sounds like some thought it was too difficult to ride the entire trail. Do not go left at the entrance of the trailhead. Stay to the right and the ride will be much better! There are numerous options available that can take an experienced rider through single tracks for over five hours (and not see another rider).

Recommended Route:
Experience all of them. Take it to Red Warrior for an epic. You can ride from East Fork to Mohoney and back in less than 2 hours.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The Sun Valley area is a mtb rider's dream.

Summary:
I dont kno how anybody could possibly diss this trail. This is an AMAZING ride. Possibly the greatest singletrack downhill i have ever ridden in my life. Ther is even a sign at the top that says "Caution MtnBikers: Long descent ahead"...that just goes to show that even the Gov't garauntees you will have a good time!!

Note: this is not a ride for the weak of heart or leg, there are a pair of monster climbs, but if you wanna get to the downhill u gotta go up first, and boy do u go up.

Recommended Route:
Start at Greenhorn Gulch Trailhead, go out Mahoney Cr trail till it splits, if ur still feeling strong head up Lodgepole Gulch(this is the way i went and i must say that the view and the terrain was unparalleled), otherwise stay on Mahoney Cr trail. Stay left at all forks in the trail and you will end up right where you started. The downhill at the end is unreal, it is sooo smooth and fast!!!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Adams Gulch, Fox Creek, Chocholat Gulch, Oregon Gulch, Cunard Gulch

Just pick up an all-weather Bike trail map or guide book in any of the bike shops in Ketchum or Hailey, thats what i did.

Summary:
I just came back from a MTB trip in the Sun Valley area. The Greenhorn to Mahoney ride was beautiful!. Nice buffed trails!! We also rode Fox Peak in the same area. Greenhorn was our favorite ride this year!

Recommended Route:
Avoid the switch back that begins to the right of the parking lot. There is a much better route to the left which has recently been reopened.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fox Peak, it has it's moments...but it also has some abusive areas.
