Tamarack Resort
1 reviews
 5 of 5

As of July 17, 2005 the much hyped Tamarack trail system is a very limited work in progress. From the top of the main (express) lift there is only one choice--a steep, rocky service road. About half way down 2 double black trails spin off. Near the bottom the short, easy ''Lupine'' trail cuts out some of the service road. A small network of trails with little elevation change is also near the base area. The resort PR on these trails is awesome. In 2 or 3 years the trails on the ground may resemble their trail map. From McCall these trails are not yet worth the drive.

Summary:
Well, now it's July '06 and Tamarack's marketing machine is still in full force, but fortunately the trails are starting to catch up. The lower elevation trails are twisty, hand and machine-built singletrack that really are very good examples of how to build trails- they melt off early, drain well, have good flow, and have some challenging alternate routes alongside the main trail. Great for the family, beginners, and XC types. The first downhill trail from midmountain is open and has lots of jumps, rock drops, and wall rides. Be sure to check out Stage Fright and Exit stage right

Recommended Route:
Something for everyone

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lift served trails at Brundage ski resort or lots of backcountry epics around the area. Eagle's Nest trail is the best nearby.
