Summary:
Classic Ride! A must do. The trail head can be hard to find once you have made the climb up Hawleys Gulch. Definately fast and fun. I would recommend this ride for smaller groups and not on the weekends as the trail gets congested with ATV's and horses. The best 5 miles of down-hill(elevation) I have ever done. The trail includes a nice climb on the way out as well. Deffinately a must do for intermediates and up. Watch out for wierd local campers(cows and people)that hang out on the trail.

Recommended Route:
Get a map at Bills bike shop or Schwinn shop in Idaho Falls.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
hawleys, buckskin morgan, the Raddler

Summary:
Classic route! One of the most breath taking areas around. Lots of fun technical switchback decents as well as open double track. Intermediate rider skills are helpful. Beginners should plan for lots of turns, twists, and obstacles near the end of teh trail. For some this 14 mile trip can be done in less then 2 hours. If you are new to the area I would plan on at least an hour and a half. Moose is commonly sighted, so be on the look out .

Recommended Route:
There is great variety trails to ride in this area. If you have a buddy who knows the area, the safest bet is to ride with them first, otherwise there are a series of maps out there called "On Trail". A group of buddies put these together with me last year. They helpful to new riders, as well as experienced. All the local bike shops carry them.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Hawleys Gulch, Little kelly's, Stinking Springs, lots of other variations are possible in this area.

Summary:
One word of caution, route finding at the top of the ST can be tricky. The FS Road 218 has a jeep-road cut off to Wolverine, but the sign was down last night. Go down the Jeep trail about 1 mile, if it turns and starts up, you have gone too far. Go back (10 yards) to the turn and look down, to your right you will see some trails and jumps in a gully. Stay to the left of the gully. Follow this to the left, along a tree line, and the ST will magically appear, it goes straight and down for 1/2 mile at least. There are a few (6 or 10) cattle down in the canyon (late June 2000), but nothing like it used to be in the old days. I remember seeing 40-50 cattle down there, back before they had bridges accross the streams and a few log jumps....
They have really cleaned up the bottom this year, I rode the ST without stopping, except for the barbed wire fence. You could probably even ride up (but it is soooo nice to bomb down).

Recommended Route:
I ride this often. It is some very sweet ST, a great trail to bomb on, forgiving and yet challenging. The road ride back is a nice spin. Ride this trail mid-week as a conditioner for some serious weekend excursions. The loop is 1.5 hours if you are by yourself. The trail is well maintained, my regards to whoever does that.

Summary:
Wolverine is a recently reconstructed FS trail that sees motercyle, horse and hiker use; it is not heavily used. The ST trail is a nice interesting cruise, a little rough at the end; (at the mouth of the canyon). Hawley Gulch (the uphill canyon on this loop) is also very nice.

Recommended Route:
Park at Table Rock CG. Ride up Hawley Gulch to FS Road 218 (Targhee NF Palisades Ranger Dist map), turn east and ride a couple miles to Wolverine Cyn turnoff. Wolverine is a 95% downhill single track cruiser. You will exit ST at the Snake River road turn right and take the dirt road back to your car.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
For more challenge, try Blacktail cyn 0r the S.Fork Snake River Trail.

Recommended Route:
Grew up riding in this area. Offers some super techinal climbs and descents, as well as some cruisers. If your in the area check out buskskin morgan, haily gultch. Like to explore and dig hard core riding. Goto hellhole canyon than ride down either blacks or litle blacks canyon and up wolverine canyon. long and hard ride but well worth it.
