Mica Peak
2 reviews
 3.5 of 5

The trail is a fire/access road for the transmitter equipment on the top of Mica Peak. There are fire roads all over the mountain. Some go places others don't. It is not technical at all, but it is a good workout. Its all uphill until you reach the top. The view is worth it and the downhill ride is fasssssst. There are other ways to reach the top besides the road as well. And there are other things to see once you get to the top. Shasta Bute is north of Mica Peak and its cool to see too.

Summary:
The first few miles are a simple up hill road ride. Just before the road is gated, the road turns to dirt. This trail seems to get harder and harder as you reach the summit. At the top, the road is narrow and covered with rocks. It is a great feeling to reach to top.

Recommended Route:
Follow the directions above, but start at the park near the river. The total climb will be around 3400' in 12 miles. Follow the same path back.

Summary:
The problem is there is a lot of logging in the area that is taking away from some of the natural beauty.

Recommended Route:
Straight up the road like the description says. Once to the top, ride down the north face of the peak and it will connect to a little trail that goes out to Shasta Bute, if it hasn't been logged that is. That's worth it. You won't find a better view that close to CDA/Spokane though.

Canfield
