Waimea mountain bike park

This area has a 20 diferant trail systoms. Starting with the downhill area there are 16 trails that start at 1000 feet and they end on the valley floor at 400feet. The trails are signed Begginer, sport and expert. the veiws are out of this world. After you get to the valley floor a dirt road takes you even deeper into the native hawaiian valley. you have your choice of two climes, you can clime to the south side and end up on a ridge that will blow your mind. A..bout 5 miles downhill with a valley on the right and a valley on the left. As you get closer to the cost line you have the coolest veiw of Waimea Bay. mountain bikers attn: This valley is unbeliveable....

Summary:
This trail system is now officially closed, as the National Audubon Society has taken over as the new management team. They are concerned about damage to plants and animals so all previous activities in the park have now ceased. The Audubon has a lease for 50 years or so, so don't expect to return biking here in your lifetime.

Summary:
However once on the northshore, there are even better trails to ride, up in pupukea near waimea is "cambodia"aka kaunalu trail. This is Hawaii in its pristine state! Wet roots and killer downhill runs with uphills that will hurt") The Kahuku motocross track is without a doubt the playground of the northshore, it has more trails than you could ride in a week and some that will scare the heck out of you with others that you won't want to end! Now if you want the "challenge" of how tough you are, then peacock flats is the spot! How strong are you? Check with Barfields Raging Isle in Haleiwa, they will point you in the right direction and even rent you a bike if you need one. Enjoy our Aina, but please show it respect, because it will bite your face off if you don't") aloha,

Summary:
We(myself and xc/new to downhill buddies) liked the ride from the shed all the way up to the start of Waimea downhill and back down to valley floor and then up right side of valley following dirt road and then down some singletrack/jeep trail, and then some super single track(when we rode this it was still being built)that we could hardly see the trail only knowing that it went down and thats where we wanted to go. YOU COULD EASILY RIDE ALL DAY AND NOT GET BORED.

Recommended Route:
That depends on what you want! SCARYFASY? STEEP? SLOW AND ROLLING? I could go on and on. These trails were set up for every kind of rider. One word describes it all...SWEET. Go and see tracy and get riding.

Summary:
All I can say is when I lived in Hawaii I first learned to MTB on this ride.... And well I loved it. There are so many different types of trails for every skill level that it's hard to get bored. Another thing that makes this trail fun is the RED DIRT..... If you have ever been on a bike in Hawaii you know what I'm talking about.......... I like it because when it's dry it's fast, but when that afternoon rain comes through can you say slick as hell......

Recommended Route:
Depending on your level choose the trails you feel more on the edge with....... Isn't that the only real way to ride?

Summary:
If your going to be on the island and have a few hours you'd be a fool to pass up mountain biking at Waimea. Some serious down hills and assume views of the valleys and ocean. Highlights include "Fearless" and "Dead Cow Point."

Recommended Route:
All
