Ride up FS 205A to where the singletrack begins on the left near the radio towers. It rollercoasters along Taylor Ridge for 4+ miles on wide, leaf covered singletrack that affords some nice winter views.

Trail Directions
Numerous sections are possible, I've explored the two "singletrack" sections. The northernmost section starts off the east side of West Armuchee Rd. just south of the Chattooga/Walker county line. It follows a grassy forest road to the top of Strawberry Mountain and then cuts off to the left on apx. 1.0 mile of rocky forest singletrack before dropping down the other side on a fast (muddy) ATV road. For the section reviewed here, drive up to the crest of Taylor Ridge on U.S. 27 and look for FS 205 on the south/west side. Go 0.4 mile up to FS 205A (gated) and park.

Summary:
Just a small correction to the trail description(I live about a mile from it and have hiked, biked this mountain for years): this is NOT Taylor's Ridge(Pinhoti crosses that one as well, about 20 odd miles--as the crow flies--to the west). This ridge is called Dug Gap Mountain(Dug Gap Battle Park is about 100 yards north of the access road to the singletrack). After the long ride down the ridgetop, the trail passes over a saddle to Middle Mountain for a bit, then over that to Horn Mountain. Descend Horn Mountain and you end up at the parking area in Snake Creek Gap. Thought there might be some confusion if you look at a topo map

Recommended Route:
There are some other lead trails to Pinhoti: One from the Hickory Hills subdivision in Dalton that goes up the old civil war era road and intersects at the access road described above. Another one that goes from what's known as the "Hurricane"(go past the access road described above, down the opposite side of the mountain, turn at the first left at the foot of the mountain, go to the 2nd paved road to the left, look for a forest service brown road sign at a dirt road turning left, follow that to the trail head. This goes past some real Appalachia-type, men-with-green-teeth houses, but I've never had my car or myself bothered here and the few people I've met on the trail have been really nice.

Summary:
For best results see the North West Georgia SORBA web site. They have worked very hard to create these trails and make them one of the best rides in Georgia. On their site they have maps and directions and elevation profiles. Disregard the elevation profiles at your own peril. No. Just kidding. There are great climbs on these but they are part of the fun. Go. Do what you can and then drink a beer.

Recommended Route:
The South section has more options and is less challenging than the North section. There are a couple of forest service roads and trail choices that I don't know. Yesterday, we rode an out and back from the Pinhoti Trial Parking on Hwy #136. We drove up I-75 to #136 and turned right off of the high way. After about 11 miles we got to the parking where we started. We just did an out and back on both trails for a total of 17 miles in about 2:38. I know we didn't win the time trial but we did drink a beer. Woo hoo.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
See the NWGA SORBA site for more directions.

Sorry but the pin on the map indicates parking for the North end of the North trail. The best parking for me is on hwy #136 about 11miles from I-75. The NWGA SORBA maps are a big help.

True, that is the beginning of the service road that heads to the north end of Pinhoti North.
