Summary:
Trails needs major traffic and or maintenance. It was ok but could have been so much better with a little work. Great over look and some fun stuff interrupted by the lost trail and trees down/branches everywhere.

Ignore the Billy Shaw Abney directions in the description up top. When you reach Lafayette look for route 193 west. There will be directions for the wildlife area. I used the wonderful directions from this site and got no where. I had to stop in the local Bi-Lo and the locals didn't even know where Billy Shaw Abney highway was.

And as a tip from the manager at the Bi-Lo it's pronounced la-FAYETTE not LA-fayette :-)

Summary:
This place is cool. Great single track. Some extremly rocky downhill sections. The mid part of the loop rides along a ridge with a great view off to the left. Get a map before you go - it can get alittle confusing...but hey, better that working right!

Recommended Route:
Be careful to start out the back of the parking lot. There is another trial that starts near the parking lot that screwed us up.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are several trails here - high point and north pocket are in the same area - more miles if you want them. Some good camping spots too - make a weekend of it.

Summary:
I was part of a work crew from the Northwest Georgia chapter or Sorba doing trail maintenance here 2 weeks ago, I rode the trail with several other riders this past weekend and it was great. We didn't have time to do the whole thing but what we did ride was very good. There are a couple of short sections that are un-rideable(at least for me:) but most of the rest is pure sweet single track. This area is an outdoor junkies paradise, checkout this website for more infor and a map www.parkmaps.com/USA/Georgia/State/Crockford_Pigeon_Mt-a/detailspage.htm

Rate it 4 for the trail a one more for all the other stuff you can do on this mountain. Just Ride.

Recommended Route:
It's all good.

Summary:
We rode yesterday, Sunday PM, after the rains passed over. The temperature was cool with a breeze. As we started, the trails and roads were wet and then later in the afternoon they had already drained and dried. Because of the water, some sections were initially more slippery and one down hill was like sliding down oatmeal. But we had wonderful fun. I definitely prefer more challenging trails. The most amazing suprise were the senic views of the country side. You're so high that large (big birds?) turkey vultures are cruising just above the trees.
Just a wonderful ride and the tricky parts make it more entertaining.

Recommended Route:
Explore. A map is definitely required. I had a guide who has ridden there a bunch. I will definitely be back soon. Our trip time from the 75/85 connector in Atlanta was about 3.5 hours.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Log onto wheelhopper.com/ for hashing/group rides around Atlanta and beyond. We're a biking club with a drinking problem. Some people even hash with out bikes, but hey, that's just craziness.
