Peavine Creek

Average Rating:    (3.33 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 3

Once on the trail take first left onto a mile long flat single track that follows Peavine Creek (recently widened by city sewer planners). There are three possible lefts to take but for the longest most enjoyable ride go to the end of the trail (ends at Old Clifton Rd) turn around and go back taking your first right. This begins the true single track ride in the small mountains between Fox channel Five and Emory Campus/Peavine Creek). Go over a foot bridge up steep and take every right that seems to be going up hill. You eventually will go down into the first gully over a tough stream crossing follow the trail up a tough steep taking a left once on the creek washout and look for the trail that continues up the mountain. Next is a pretty good down hill and a very dangerous steep section with cut logs and stumps at the very end. Take a right and your back at the beginning. Now do the loop backwards taking a right up the very dangerous steep (with the cut tree stumps) for a great single track ride. This trail is seldom used by mountain bikers because it’s more setup for walking. Do not try it in wet conditions because the trail is very steep in places and you’ll be pushing your bike up the whole way. This is a short trail but very technical and not a beginner trail. The river crossings and up hills are technical. You’ll be huffing ands puffing for sure: 1.4 mile loop several variations. If you live in the Highlands. This trail and Waterworks are your best options for in town riding.

Summary:
This trail sucks, I went here thinking that it might be good enough to ride because it is 5 minutes from where I live, but it is not. The trail was built very poorly and has not been maintained at all since being built it seems.

Summary:
Huzzah. Finally we're beginning to recognize these little in town trails. I think it's so important to cultivate all the dirt we can get. This is a great little add on for your in town ride. You can leave your house, do some urban assault, and hit this one and then cross campus to the Emory presidents house/park where there is more dirt with a fire road and a short trail by the creek.
I gave this a high over all rating because it's there. For me this is very good.

Recommended Route:
Up and back. Repeat.

Also there is a newer short trail in a morningside nature area. Can't really give you good directions, but it's off of Cheshire Bridge.
Woo hoo. Ride bikes.
Another entertaining ride is to cut through all the 'Maid Trils' in Druid Hills. They are not challenging to ride just fun. They are challenging to find. Good luck.

Summary:
This trail is short but a very good for intown riding and keeping your skills fresh. The steep are steep hell when it's wet. The single track needs to be rounded in small places so it flows better. The flat has one small creek crossings that is rocky and a bit hairy. If you stay on your bike the whole time you da man. The short steeps and steps can have you losing your balance pretty quickly.

Recommended Route:
Loop like the directions say. I just do the single track back and forth.

Water Works Trail
