Alpharetta YMCA Beginners Trail

Beginner's trail. Extremely easy. I helped RAMBO build it and we didn't make anything that would be difficult. Mostly level singletrack with about 3 easy switchbacks.

Trail Directions
Get off GA 400 at Mansell Road (There's a trail there too!). Go right and then left onto North Point Parkway. Follow that for about 4-5 miles. On your right side, there will be the entrance to the Ed Isakton YMCA of Alpharetta. Drive in there and go to the bottom of the hill. Park your car and get your bike. Ride onto the Greenway (Cement) for about 3/4 of a mile. There will be a bridge to your right. Go across it and make an immediate right. The traihead is righ there.

Summary:
Pretty basic, short trail. As said before, the outer loop is a flat, windy path through some sparse woods. You ride past a cow pasture, and around a large hill, that the blue trail leads up to.

The blue trail is a little more challenging, with a couple obstacles towards the top, and a picnic table to take a break if you wish (not that you'd need to)

Overall, I think it's a fun little trail. I take my cyclocross bike on it and ride it as fast as I can. It's a nice change from the trails at the other end of the greenway.

Recommended Route:
Start on the outer trail once around, then head into the blue trail on your second loop through. Then do it all again until you're done.

Great for younger riders who are looking for a great starting point, my sister a 9 year old rides the upper and lower just fine and she loves it.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
At the very end of the green way you will come to a three way, go to Mansell rd route. as if you where at the YMCA trail there will be a bridge and a trail left of the bridge there is a trail, you rid

Summary:
Excellent relaxing long paved trail. Altough the directions there could be better. If you go up GA 400 to Exit 10, Old Milton Parkway, turn Right off the exit Northpoint Parkway is a light or so up, make a Left. The sign for the YMCA is another light down on the Right.

Summary:
This is a fun ride. Not too difficult, but closer to me than Blankets Creek. I took exit 10 to North Point Parkway. Much shorter than following the directions posted here if you come from the northside of town.

Recommended Route:
Warm up on the Green trail and then go for the blue

Summary:
This is the only trail I have found in the area near my workplace. It is a good short trail that I can hit at lunch time for a little fun and excercise. The lower loop is relatively flat with only a few easy switch backs. The Blue loop takes you up a fairly steep incline leading to a picnic table and rest area at the top of the hill. The down hill route is pretty quick and has multiple turns and switchbacks. The trail overall has a few technicals for the beginners (stumps, roots & rocks). I will definitely be riding this trail on a regular basis.

Recommended Route:
Start on the lower loop (green) as a warm up and then hit the upper loop (blue) for a slightly more aggressive ride.
