Cross Country Rider Summary: I rode part of this trail for the first time yesterday and I can't wait to go back and ride the whole thing. It has great terrain with enough roots and rocks to add some challenge to all the ups and downs of the gully crossings. Recommended Route: I'll have to ride more before I can really recommend anything but this looks to be a new favorite. Other recommended trails in the same area: Talladega Nat'l Forrest isn't to far south and there are plenty up here around Atlanta.

Weekend Warrior Summary: I ride this trail twice a week when my schedule permits. The Hack and Yack and Island portions are technical and entertaining without being overly intimidating. I love the elevation changes and gulley crossings as they really keep you on your toes and require a ton of focus. The Turkey run portion gives you much more of a sense of distance travel with enough elevation change and gulley crossings to keep it fun. The Lakeside portion is perfect for my son who is just a novice but beginning to understand that mountain biking is much like life and never a totally smooth ride but rewards await those who perservere. Recommended Route: I like to park at the Eagle View parking lot right at the dam of West Point Lake and cross over the dam road and tackle Hack and Yak and the Island first. When I emerge I cross the power lines and hit Turkey Run all the way until it crosses the main road. I complete the loop on the Lakeside Trail. It takes about an hour and a half or (slightly longer for this late 40's old man). Other recommended trails in the same area: I have ridden the Troup County Equestrian Park trails on Roanoke Road for years and they are fun as well. Watch out for "road apples" on the trails. When I encounter horses I dismount and move to the side of the trail to allow them to pass. I also politely remind them the I will never allow my Trek to poop on their horse trails!!

Weekend Warrior Summary: I, too, am a little biased since I helped implement and build the trail, nonetheless, this trail is near and dear to my heart. I love it! I took up MTB about 2 years ago, and this is the trail I learned on. The beginner portion is a great place for brand new bikers to start, yet it's still exciting now that I've gotten better at riding. Then, the Island and Hak-n-Yak test my skills a little more, but it's all very ridable with great scenery. Turkey Run is a nice little run to cruise on. This trail has lots of variety in types of riding, scenery, and ability. Come check it out! I think you'll fall in love!

Weekend Warrior Summary: I was very surprised to find such a great trail so close to home. This trail has everything you're looking for: trails from beginner to advanced (the advanced tracks aren't finished yet though), and an amazing view of west point lake throughout the ride, which really makes the afternoon. Highly recommend this trail for anybody in the area, not to mention there is a ton of other stuff to do around the lake. Job well done on the trail, and thanks to the guys at Goldens Bike Shop for pointing me in the right direction.
