Wild Wood Park

In short, "Suck Wood", unless changes are made. 5 mile loop. Moderate climbs. Trail has ALOT of annoying small ditches you can't ride through or over. Lots of roots; no jumps or fun technical bits. Briefly scenic around the lake. Trail disappears into nothing in a lot of places, you're peddling through raw woods; you'll spend time trying to figure out where the trail went and where to go. Generally really, really annoying. I commend them trying, Columbia Co. needs some places, but... uhg... Spend your $2 at Mistletoe. Like the crummy parts of Lickfork, with the aggravating few narrow ditches at Modoc, for 5 miles continuously. Maybe after a few years of riding, some rerouting over the ditches (sideways instead of just running the track into a hole...), and cutting the track clearer.. some wood markers instead of paint... Do it once to find out, if you know what I mean.

Summary:
Wildwood trail "system"... In short, don't bother. There are no trails here to ride, just the lake to swim in. There used to be a single track, but lack of riders and maintenance means it is overgrown. The only trails here are the horse trails.

Recommended Route:
none

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Not sure, still new to area, but Mistletoe and the canal trail system seems promising.

Summary:
Not sure what all the bad-mouthing is about. I raced this course in an adv race a few weeks ago (end of June) and it was in GREAT shape. The ditches were steep and could be tricky if you haven't ridden more than once or twice. They just take practice. (Hint: handlebars forward and weight back!) This is a fast course with a few short easy climbs and a fast section that briefly opens up onto a dirt road for a short downhill. Overall an easy but still fun trail. Check it out and don't complain unless you're going to make a better one!

Recommended Route:
Either way...

Summary:
SORBA-CSRA has performed work on this trail. As of today, all of the ditches can be ridden. The trail is clearly marked and the trail has been cleared of all leaves and pinestraw. Give this trail another chance and go ride it. Yes, the trail still needs work, such as trail location to prevent erosion, but it is alot better then it use to be.

Recommended Route:
Either way

Summary:
This trail reminds me of Lick Fork, Stevens Creek and Turkey Creek trails fifteen years ago. This trail is getting some use and has become better marked. The ditch crossings that other reviewers have mentioned are charcteristic of most trails in this area. The other trails have just been ridden longer and bridges have been placed across the ditches. The trail is mostly single track with a couple of old fire roads thrown in. The trail is not as fast as some in this area, but offers some short technical down hills and climbs. Most of the ditches are rideable for experianced ATBers, there are a few that I would like to see bridges across. If you like single track and are looking for a trail close to Augusta, this is one you should ride. This trail would be good for beginners and intermediate riders. Advanced riders might want to do a few laps or combine this trail with the trail at Keg Creek when not in Hunting season.

Recommended Route:
Counter Clockwise or Both

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Stevens Creek, Turkey Creek, Wine Creek, Mistletoe State Park, Lick Fork, Parsons Mountain, Keg Creek etc.
