Ridden Trail: Every few months

Weekend Warrior Summary: Fairly technical trail, definitely a leg burner. Like the other poster said climbs are long and the downhill is broken up. Contrary to physics, it feels like you do a lot more climbing then you do downhilling. Fattire endurance guys were clipping it off in an hour, but us mere mortals figure more like 1.5-2 depending on your cardio level. Recommended Route: The actual entrance is the 2nd right when you go over the damn(heading north). Go past the Lodge entrance and its the next right, its sorta hidding just before the left hand bend so slow down. Park by the bathrooms(across from the climbing wall) and the trail entrance is in the NE corner of the open field. Other recommended trails in the same area: Tallula Gorge is a little easier endurance wise and definitely less technical.

Racer Summary: A surprising non-technical trail that only challenges you aerobically. If you fly down the descents things can get a little hairy, and fun. You climb for stretches at a time but never get to take the descents in all at once like at Tsali. I rode the trail to see what the 6-hour race would be like in a few months and I think this will be a course that can catch you out if you go out too hard in the first few hours. Recommended Route: I just follow the arrows.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Trail is close the the Unicoi State Park. Good for a quick workout. Trail had some good climbs...not many rock and I did not find it to be all that technical. The loop went fast, if I had time could have done another loop or 2 no problem. Recommended Route: Go the way of the signs. Other recommended trails in the same area: have not ridden any others

Ridden Trail: Once a year

Weekend Warrior Summary: First time I've ridden this trail in almost 3 years. I can say it has recovered well from the previous storms that raked the area the past couple of years. Yes there is one bridge still washed out but you can easily cross the creek without getting too wet. Not sure why nobody has posted a review on this trail in over a year. It really is a great trail with some good climbs and the most spectacular view I have seen on a trail at the very top. Maybe people are trying to keep this trail a secret because I only saw one other biker even on an Oktoberfest weekend in Helen. It could be a little longer (it's close to 8 miles) but I've been told there are other trails in the area, I just haven't found them. Recommended Route: Started at Unicoi State Park where the Tennis Courts are. Also there is a Bike shop near the entrance to the Park. I beleive it's called Woody's.
