Thomson Trail
19 reviews
 4.26 of 5

L.H.Thomson is one of Macon's oldest trails, but recent trail work has improved the course greatly. The trail is about 5 kilometers of technical single-track. Very little of this trail is level. Obstacles include log jumps, switchbacks, and steep drops. Some erosion has left exposed roots that will challenge your bike handling skills. The land-owners would like you to sign a waiver before you hit the trail. This document helps ensure the trail stays open for future riders. Just go inside and ask about the bike trail. You might get a factory tour, too.

Summary:
Got here a few months ago from Florida. Trail is much more technical than what I was used to. Lots of up/down hills, switchbacks, two creek crossings, and a few fast sections. Also has a really nice double-dip at the bottom of a fast downhill section.

Oh...I re-worked and posted SORBA's OMBA Logo. Hope MTBR puts it on. Enjoy.

Summary:
Rode this for the first time today and was very impressed. Nice flow, but does have some tight turns to slow ya down a bit. No major ups and downs. I feel it's a great place to get started Mt. Biking by taking it slow and working the obsticles, or if your experienced, then pick up the pace and use the middle chain ring.

Summary:
My inlaws live in Warner Robins so I am in the area often. I have been looking for a trail close to them that I can hit and still be able to spend quality time with the family during my visit. I rode this trail last week for the first time. Not much in altitude however the constant up, down, up, down will get to you after a few miles. I cleared everything in the middle chain ring so beginners should be able to clean the trail with a little help from granny. I like the fact that the trail has a little of everything. Not too much of the same stuff. Nice creek crossing, nice drop on the backside, nice roots, a few logs here and there. Over all a great trail that made maximum use of minimal land. Could be longer but hey a few laps and I was ready for some Taco Bell. A great trail that was not too hard just a lot of fun.
Somebody posted about the sand being a problem. Sand? What sand? Come on down to Florida and I can show you some sand.
Great job to who was involved in building this trail and please keep it up.

Recommended Route:
I rode both directions and found both to be just as fun.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
East Macon Park, Conyers, Thomaston

Summary:
This is the first time riding this trail and to be totally honest, it was very surprising how awesome it was. There was something for everyone. It has some nice drops, sharp turns, steep down hills, and well placed obsticles.

You can tell someone has spent time on this trail. The only complaint that I have about the trail is the sandy areas. It could use some dirt for hardpack. Unfortunately, sandy areas on the trails is enevitable here in middle Georgia so I guess we'll have to live with that.

Over all it is a great trail with a little something for every level of rider.

Recommended Route:
All of it!!!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Not sure, I ride on the base quite often however there are not a lot of trails there. There's a group of people trying to put a trail together but the plans have been postponed due to it being scorching hot and the abundance of dangerous wildlife out there at this time. I think the group is going to get it started again in the next month or so.

Summary:
This is a great trail. Good flow, built for XC MTBing, and always going up or down. Everything is easily makeable, and the signs let you know what is coming up next. Didn't get off my bike once. Great fun, yet need to ride it several times to get a workout.

Recommended Route:
Follow the black arrows, only one way to ride.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Haven't been in area long enought
