Recommended Route: Up and then Down. Other recommended trails in the same area: I have heard there is more trail in the valley, and yet, I have not heard where. Clues? Anybody? Anybody?

Ridden Trail: Once a year

Reviewed by: Ken or Beavis
, from Decatur, GA, USA Summary: Basically, this is Woody's trail. Ask him about it, but take a map or a guide for the first time out. The climb is roughly 8 miles up and then 8 miles of rocky down hill on road and then trail and then it's miller time, baby. I love this ride, but it does take time to get there, do it and get home. That's all that keeps me away. The trail follows FS 79 to the top of Tray Gap. Then you roll down the other side still on 79 till it turns left and you go right looking for an overgrown road/trail. If you THINK you've found it, you're there. Possibly, Woody has marked it better by now. Then you end up in the back of Unicoi park. Don't scare the hikers! See you on trail. thu beav Recommended Route: Hickory Nut trail is a version of Helen's mtn bike trail system. Start at Woody's bike shop and get ready! Other recommended trails in the same area: there's a neat water fall to the left of fs79 about half way up to tray gap. on 283. very pretty and refreshing. if you pass the falls and go to the highway, you will be on the other side of 'something?' gap and have to ride highway over the pass back to Helen. Ouch!
